What have I done!? I have a sense of impending expense!

It's started!
I'm at the point of no return and I think I want to pass it.

I was on the Garden Organic website a few days ago and ordered their seed catalogue because "I might as well" and "what harm can it do?".

Well - I got home from the pub tonight and opened a letter addressed to me that I'd ignored earlier on. It's the catalogue, along with a letter and a few other bits I've not looked at.

I'm actually hesitating to open the catalogue and read the other stuff because I know it's going to start out as an interesting read (I've never even seen a seed catalogue before) which will become a wish-list and then in a moment of relatively affluent madness I'll rder the stinking lot!

What have I gone and DONE!!!???

Is there a way out?
I suspect not, but really, is there?

Get lots more catalogues, cross-refernce all the wishlists, then you'll never be able to work out what you've decided to get from where because of the old "this looks better but is more expensive, but what about the postage saving if I order from one fewer place, but this only comes from this place...." etc... Sounds like you need more seed porn....

Organic, step away from the GO catalogue. Put it down gently, NOW. Take a deep breath, then turn and walk away and forget all about it. Mine arrived today and I thought, well, I need one or two bits and bobs from somewhere, and GO usually have some really unusual pumpkins and squashes that you just don't see anywhere else. So if I buy the bits and bobs from GO, along with the squash seeds, it would save on postage. Spent £65 and I WASN'T EVEN TRYING, things just kept adding themselves to the list..... Plus both brothers have been e-mailed with gentle hints about my upcoming birthday....and OH has now seen a sickle that he fancies.

I just read the Organic catalogue last night. A lot of the seeds I would want, I already have (because I save them from year to year).

I did have a laugh at some of the back pages ... £85 for a plastic sheet and some hoops! ... £59 for a piece of mesh and some canes! .... £39 for a "potato box" (what's wrong with a cardboard box?)... £10 for a spider catcher (use a glass, for cripes sake)... £14 for a pot brush !

The seed section is extremely dangerous! I haven't ordered yet.....but I know I will. I am with TS on the rest though hugely overpriced for things you don't need!

I have to agree with chrisc here, too many choices will be the cure! Or you'll end up with twice as many because you'll have to get those from 'this or that' catalogue and to make it worth the postage you need just a few more items!

The only way back is to overdo it once and then join in with the seedswap! Oh or the 'pass the parcel'?!

Two Sheds and Incy are right, the catalogue does contain some pretty silly things at outrageous prices. I've always found the seeds to be reasonably priced though, especially when, like me for instance, you have a new found love of pumpkins and squash and want several varieties to experiment with. It's the books that are my downfall. I just can't stop myself buying books.

I have had two catalogues so far but have been busy with work that I haven't had time to look at them yet. I have a big stock of seeds for next year so will try to resist the urge to buy more. My biggest downfall is fruit bushes and plants, an I have already run out of space for any more, yet I have a French fruit collection and strawberry runners to come. Will have to try and get a second allotment.

I am going to an event at Ryton next Sunday, and you have just reminded me to pick up the Organic Catalogue from there.

There is no cure for seed addiction, just go with the flow.

But make sure you check postage prices from the outcoming catalogues, some have put them up by quite a lot.
