WILL YOU SHUT UP ABOUT BLADDY CHRISTMAS UNTIL AT LEAST THE FIRST WEEK OF DECEMBER!
Sorry to shout - I love Christmas, but, I mean, do me a favour!
I tried fighting it myself, but it's so in-your-face that I gave up and decided to start the list. Probably as well I did because there's nothing on my list that I've actually considered before, everything I think of I immediately forget. So this list was my way of remembering.
I knew a bailiff who used to call on people in Decemer and when they said "You wouldn't take that at Christmas!", he'd reply, "You're right, but then it's not Christmas it's December!"

I would like another compost bin, another water butt, a frame for my raspberries, another plot lol.
I also have a birthday 12 days after christmas so all my presents come at once, and everyone says they are broke. As long as I get a phone call from my family then thats all I want, to know they are safe is all that matters. ( they only live a few miles away )

Got to agree - its way to early too thinking about Christmas, unless its chutney's/fruit booze.
Yup - n I made Limoncello (quick version) yesterday - it aint gonna last until the festive season - I've even postponed going to bed so I can have a glass (and chronic indigestion!) before I hit the sack! Jeeeeeez it's good!

I like the look (and smell) of real Christmas trees, but the thought of a tree being grown and killed just for a couple of weeks, so covered with decorations that you can't see whether it is real or a good imitation... no, can't do it.
DON'T tell me it's 'only like cut flowers' because it isn't. Cut flowers grow on plants that survive to produce more flowers, the tree is KILLED.
These days we decorate the trees growing outside, a couple of big old olive trees, becasue we do Christmas in Spain!

Real tree for us!!!
I'd rather have a natural one that's provided the environment with oxygen for the "x" amount of years it's been alive(and then of course more are planted each year to keep up with demand),than a plastic one that will not only pollute my home & look nasty but also when it's tired & tatty looking pollute our ever increasing landfil as opposed to my freshly cut one that will decompose & continue it's little journey of bringing joy to the world!!!But that's me!
Much as I prefer to wait til December to start thinking about Christmas, with pennies as limited as they are,I think I need to start thinking & at the least find out what Santa's got planned for me to buy the kiddlies & try to stretch the pennies from now til the big day(actually just placed a book order on his behalf for Daisy!)
Not really got a clue what's on my list,I've already made preliminary plans for a picnic lunch & slowcooked rabbit stew & dumplings for tea...to ensure I get the day off too!.
I've actually been doing a lot of reminiscing about the old times...mainly music...so maybe a few CDs to *replace the vinyls.(*compliment,we all know vinyls can't be replaced!)
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.
Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx
My OH has already bought me a super gift, a whizz-bang scrapbook set from QVC (other craft retailers are available), and I'll be really excited to receive that on the big day (Notice I didn't use the 'C' word).
I'd love to spend the festive season in Scotland, in a hotel, whiskey in hand, in front of a roaring fire, but I couldn't bring myself to do that to my father or my OH's parents, we see them rarely enough as it is, so its an important time for family in our house.
And finally, I'm with Julesapple, for me its all about choosing and wrapping gifts for everyone, and decorating the house - the day itself is often a let down compared to all the build up.

Yes, that's why I hate it starting in September ... a 3 month build-up, c'mon.
I'm as organised as the next person (I buy my wrap and cards in the Jan Sales) but I don't want *it* shoved in my face every time I go shopping. It just ain't special that way...especially when it's still 20C and sunny.

Very true, I don't start actual shopping until December. Shops putting everything out now takes the sparkle off *it* - there's nothing like festive shopping when the high street is all decorated and there's a Sally Army band playing carols round a honkin' big tree. Although I don't enjoy queues, so I do as much online as I can...I know, I'm a contradiction in terms, its an affliction .
I'm quite happy to do my own planning waaay ahead, but I do object to the commercialisation starting so early. After Guy Fawkes is soon enough for decs etc in the shops!
