spammers?

yYou know we were talking about spammers a while back....
When I look at who is on line I see lots of 'grapes' with names like

abcd11234 or hojk7899 are these for real?

No, they're the spammers. They'll get binned later when I do a clearout, usually get rid of 20 or so each 24 hours

A lot of them don't post their rubbish on the forum, thankfully, they just hide it on their profile somewhere. We'd all be going crazy if they all posted!

I remember getting hit on a client site once and it made the database run to 110 pages of A4 (usually only standing at 20 max), no we didn't print it out

If it was my forum, I'd implement some of the extras from Stop Forum Spam, which includes automatically blocking the IP addresses from a list of some of the most prolific spammers and domains.

But it's not my forum, so just keep clicking 'copy', 'paste', 'Ban'

You can also make it so that people can't post links in their posts for the first posts - or can't post at all until they have been moderated; but to be honest it's not an 'hour a day' job as it is - let alone if we had to mod every new new sign up.

Still, they do provide some vague amusement sometimes - I've started coming across a few with 'pecia' in their name, seem to be trying to sell to bald peeps now, instead of limp ones... Perhaps they should just call themselves 'Insecurities R Us' and sell the lot from one place?!

I had a blood test today, and the elastic that she used to stop the blood flow and pump the vein up had 'Cialis' on the side; which as we know is a 'cure the limpness' pill......but it made me smile to think that if they marketed the elastic instead; then perhaps they wouldn't need the pill.

Perhaps they just use that to take people's minds off the 'I'm just sticking a needle in you now' situation.
