Hi MrsC. Smoke machine is a much better idea. Dry ice can give bad ice burns to anyone that picks it up. One weird post-doc I worked with once put it on his tongue, it stuck, bit of his tongue came off when he yanked it away! Anyways I doubt you can get hold of it outside a commercial environment anymore?
MrsC I think you might be able to get something similar from a garden centre. I've seen small water features in Fryers Garden Centre in Knutsford & Bents Garden Centre in Glazebrook in the past which 'smoke' but I don't know if they have them at the moment or if you have to buy a complete feature or can just get the smoke effect but it must be available somewhere.
