ok well i am at my brother in laws allotment on thursday and they have just had some slate in for doing paths etc ..well its in a couple of heaps and as i am small and everyone else is looking at the next field that has been allocated to them i decide that i will go onto pile of loose!!!! slate so i can see too. can you see where i am going with this.well i turn round think i will just step down maybe 6 inches onto the next pile and to my amazment i am now on the deck on all fours legs scraped to bits and one big fat ankle.
anyway i think oh not to bad so go to the garden centre where my darling husband gets me a wheel chair as i now cant walk at all..foot like a football
2 hours later and 2 xrays i have torn the tendons and ligaments on the top of my foot can walk today and tried to do some weeding etc but hurts too much so got hubby to do it instead .....i just wish there was an easier way to get hubby doing garden stuff without me being in pain !! ha ha

Ouch! Tracy You take it easy, ligaments etc can take longer to heal than bones if you don't do the right stuff... Will you get some physio type help?

Tracy you don't want to hear this but you need to stop doing anything for a while. Two summers ago I jumped down from a wall, chasing my son and fractured my ankle. unfortunately I also damaged tendons and ligaments. The fracture healed in about 6 weeks, the tendons and ligaments took much longer. Don't, please agggravate it by using it or it will take even longer.
8 months after the injury I still had an ankle brace and it still twinges now. I hope your injury heals quicker but only rest will allow it to do so.

Hi I'm really sorry to hear about your ankle. I have done this twice and the second time the ligament took bone off with it. I was given a boot to wear for 6 weeks to support the ankle and then loads of physio. I'm sorry to say my ankle is still weak and will occasionally give way without warning. You really need to rest the foot to get the swelling down I'm afraid and it's really frustrating I know.

Ouch! Poor you as the others have said, rest is probably the best cure - hope it heals quickly (and properly) for you.

                Ouch! Poor you.

I must re-iterate to take it easy, though. Ligaments first heal with horizontal fibres as a temporary solution. These are then slowly replaced over many months with vertical ones. As the horizontal ones don't have the same elasticity, they are much more easily torn, even though the limb feels fine. So, take care! Lots of wine should help. Making it would be even better. You can do that sitting down, you know.

Make sure these exercises are done lying down. Probably best to start with a long straw at first...

Ouch Tracy, I tore my tendon and ligaments on my ankle just over 3 years ago and I still have problem's with it (slipped on some wet paint at home), if I walk too much, if I stretch up on my tip toe's I can feel it, I had to wear strapping on it for nearly 8 weeks, then I had week's of physio, all the time I was told to keep my weight of the bad ankle. I have a sport's support now what I wear if I'm going to be walking any distance. My advice to you is "don't risk doing more damage", sit back and enjoy being pampered.
