  • Christmas Trees !

One of the places I work has two hundred acres of trees, which I started hand pruning just this afternoon. Some of these trees will be ready for the Christmas Market this year. Paul, the guy who owns the place is away for 4 - 5 weeks at a time and is always busy when he's home so he came up with a proposition today - I sell the trees and we split the money 50 / 50. Sounds good ? Gets better - I will be cutting and packing them in his time, so I still get paid !! All I need to do now is build myself a funnel and netting machine and away I go.
Could be a nice Christmas bonus if I can get it all sorted - have just looked on the interweb and 4ft trees are retailing at £25 a tree !

                    Well that's great news Rat.
You deserve it after all you've been through this year with your business.
Hope its a bumper year for you.

And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

The first archaeological field trip my daughter went on had them staying in the bunk house of a Christmas tree farm, she didn't know they existed until then and had had some weird idea that people went into forests to cut them from the wild, which is why she always objected when I bought a real one every year....and I thought it was because the needles got everywhere.
Into each life some rain must fall........but this is getting ridiculous.

Well I have a plastic one!

*Prepares for a good, old fashioned slating*

As I live on my own, it's not really worth while getting a proper one in for just me to appreciate.
Besides, I spend Christmas at my mum's, and she has a 7ft plastic one! I find they tend to look better as the branches are nice and even and very 'typical' looking. It's been years since I've seen a really good looking real one. The tops always seem to be a bit scraggy and spindly. Plastic ones are quaquaversally perfect
