  • Jimmy's nails

Did anyone see Jimmy Doherty's Food Factory thing? I didn't rate the programme and I really didn't rate his fingernails - they're minging.

Can't say as I noticed his fingernails. I did quite enjoy the programme though, especially the part showing the cows that went off to milk themselves. Thought he would be a little more critical of the food industry but just showed us the processes involved. Who'd have thought you could buy 'food grade' iron filings. Yum yum.
It is the doom of man, that they forget.

The programme was barely average. Kept on thinking does that man not own a nail brush?

I have less muck down my nails after a day in the garden, disgraceful for someone who handles food.
I too thought he'd be a lot more critical of the food industry, but what about those cows going round & round in circles because they like being milked....priceless.

          I didn't notice his fingernails!
Thought it was an interesting programme, and he didn't need to be critical - the processes on their own were enough to put cornflakes off the menu in our house!
The cows were very funny, and just shows they must be quite intelligent to be able to work out what's going on, and, proves how stressful the whole milking thing usually is for them.

I can't stand "instant" coffee myself, but never realised it was made using proper coffee. What a faff though.

Wonder how they make the granules...

Mucky nails really get to me - especially with people preparing food. I've caught a few of the Masterchef programmes and the number of contestants wiping their noses or rubbing their mouths with their hands and NOT being castigated (or worse!) by the judges made me incandescent! And you wouldn't like me when I'm angry!

I always cringe whenever watching The Two Fat Ladies. Jennifer always has bright red nail varnish on, and she wears her great big gold rings all the time - even when making bread, or mixing things by hand.

I used to work for Sainsbugs as a student. I was on the Deli and was fastitious about hand washing. If I blew my nose, I did it in the back room and then washed my hands out there and then again when I went back onto the counter, I always washed hands when changing from serving cured meat (bacon etc) to other products. But then you'd see other Deli staff licking their fingertips to help them open the little plastic bags to put the food into - Bleurghhhh!!

Many years ago I went into my village shop for some cheese. He would cut to order from huge block.
On this occasion whilst I was asking for said cheese he stuck his finger in his ear and had a good old poggle about then put his hand on the bock of cheese and asked how much I wanted????? needless to say I changed my mind about the wax coated cheese!

I found the prog quite interesting - didn't notice his nails but as I'm not going to eat anything he's made then it doesn't really fuss me.

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?
