I saw most of it and enjoyed all that I saw (from the lorry load of compost arriving in Kew to the end of Carol's programme) .Given a choice between this and Big Brohter I'd rather watch this anyday. Anyone want to disagree?

Great Program here is the link to the program on the BBC site with vide clips for all six episodes: http://www.bbc.co.uk/gardening/tv_an...#programme_two

That Fork was a muck fork she could bearly lift it.

On the Smutty side if she squeels like that digging up spuds I would hate to have the next hotel room to her on a dirty weekend to Margate.

When my OH lived away from home and I used to visit him on a weekend, he shared a house with two other blokes. Our mate Steve (who after 20+ years we still keep in touch with!) his girlfriend at the time made the girl in the film at the time (Porkys was it? if you are my age you'll probably know the one Im talking about!) sound quiet! It was very disturbing to be in the house downstairs to hear the noises from upstairs! Dexterdog

oh ! what a disapointment ,very arty camera work ,pretty country lanes and so forth but no good old fashioned info and advice for the beginner/experienced veg grower ,the basics as proved by the many questions by grapes ....what do i do with my dirt to make it good to grow veg in was not mentioned other than the two profesional lasses re the wonderful compost provided ,we are not all so lucky.

I agree with filthyrich, I hope next week is not all recap on what has gone before and more biographies of her mates. I watched because I wanted to learn about growing veg not look at views of the countryside and farmhouse kitchens.

                    Hi All

As I am new to growing I thought the programme was very good.

Quick question on the piece about runner beans - does putting paper and cardboard work?

                    Cheers

We thought it was very 'coffee table". All pretty pictures and very little substance. No mention of cost etc. and ctop rotation mentioned but not explained, very frothy. At least they did not portray Ms. Klein as being a thick ignoramas as they have sone in the past with her.

Missed it unfortunately; I turned it on then went to cook dinner, planning on popping in and out to watch etc. but only sat down to eat as it finished.
However, I did see her planting the pots. then digging them up and I did also think how nice it was to see her so excited about her potatoes! It really is exciting isn't it, and it's nice to know you're not too likely to become blase (?sp) about the whole thing.
Anyone know if this is like Gardeners World and you can watch it on line?

                        P.S.

                        I remember Porkies!

hi loz, the idea of using paper/cardboard etc is to provide a resovoir for water plus it will decompose and hpoefully improve your soil.

Was lookingn forward to watching, like others above, found some of the camera work a bit disturbing but think that it has potential as a series assuming that last night's was simply setting the scene. However perhaps a bit more coverage of Carol explaining to the first timers why they were doing certain activities would have been useful, I think most of us sometimes pick up what to do from seeing others do it but don't always know the reasons why etc. Will keep with it for now, especially if it's just to see what our plots will hopefully look like come summer!

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

                              hi y'all
I enjoyed the programme last night, much as I enjoy cappucino coffee -all froth and little sustance I'm afraid.
Why did they show harvesting to us in January? Bring back Geoffrey or Monty Don I say.

Besides, if she squeals like that about potatoes, what on earth will she sound like with carrots????

I actually enjoyed it - but I had hit the wine by then! What I thought was good, and hope will be encouraging, is the way she and the other family were so enthusiastic. Yes perhaps it could have been a bit more technical, but in terms of getting people interested I think it probably hit the right level.

Jerusalem Artechokes - wow! Got to try them. I didn't realise they grew like that. Must put on a massive amount of growth during the summer. Anybody grown them? I spent the next half hour after the programme looking through plant catalogues to see if i could get some. I see Dobies have 8 tubers for £8 - so wonder whether to blow the expense and give them a go.
