Have you put your central heating on yet?

Me being even tighter than Zazen, there is no way I'm going to put the central heating on yet - despite a day virtually pouring it down and windy too. I've only just put the fire on - and that's with bad grace! How's about you guys and gals?

I would normally agree with you and hold out to the last possible moment but with OH being a childminder and Oh being 34 weeks tomorrow, if she wants the heating on then so be it! lol (NEVER argue with a heavily pregnant woman! )

Mr S begged for it to go on 3 days ago, so it is now on every evening. I have to say, it's nice.

Put mine on for an hour or so about a week ago. Had been out with the doggie houseguest and we were both wet and cold.

It went on here last week; but goes off again after nice days. I turn it off long before it is timed to go off and have found it mysteriously back on again on occasion.

Was trying to hold out until the clocks went back - going well until I got the lurgy last Monday! All bets were off and the heating went on! (hangs head in shame) - mind you I keep turning it off when I get warm!

Ours has never been turned off - the thermostat gets turned down in summer, but if it's cold enough to trigger it, it comes on. My hurty parts get hurtier if I get too cold though, and there's the kids to keep warm too

Our 25 year old totally uneconomical boiler finally died three weeks ago may it R.I.P so have had to have a new boiler.
Wasn't till we fired it up last week we realised how Carp the old boiler was, it has a really good themostat and you can set it so it just comes on when the temperature dips to colder than pleasant!
We don't have to have the rads on as high now either.
In answer to your question yes we have had our heating on but it won't be costing us as much, i hope not anyway but the savings won't really matter till we've paid off the boiler cost, ouch.

I put mine on 3 days ago for a couple of hours in the morning and a couple in the evening. It's too warm today, so I need to turn it off cos its making my head ache.

If you have a shelf over a rad putting a bowl of water on there to evaporate will help to solve the headache probs. You can actually buy little bowls to hang off rads for this, i think i saw them in Lakeland some time ago.

I don't mind the house being cold, but I can't abide getting into a cold bed. Call me pusillanimous (twice in one day!), but it went on the first time getting into bed wasn't a nice way to end the day (about 2 weeks ago)

Our heating was on a week or so ago, when we had a cold snap. But I turned it back off as it has warmed up again. I was cold earlier this evening, so I turned it on and had a hot bath - just turned it off again, as it's like a blimmin sauna in here now!

Ours is also on a thermostat and was only off in 'high summer'. Can't see the point in being cold and then paying to heat a very cold house when you can keep an even temperature more efficiently. Oh and we've an open fire going too, cos it's loverley!

Off course the heating is on. I've no intention of dying of hypothermia.
The system has a good thermostatic control on individual radiators so I can adjust it for individual rooms and if I think it is not too cheery I can light the stove in the sitting room.
Maybe it is costly but if I couldn't afford to live in comfort in a house this size I would live in a smaller house. ie if I could only afford to heat one room I would live in one room, I would never live in the cold and the damp. That would be just miserable.

We had it on one evening last week, it then flooded the loft during the night...Stressful!
And the oil's on 200l, so I'll be blowed if we have to top it up before we move!
