Contest any arbitrary fines in court using the bill of rights 1689. Apparantly it stands up every time. It is illegal tp fine or otherwise punish without trial in this country. All those bits of paper the council and police hand out are in fact illegal and almost always quashed once someone starts quoting the bill of rights.

Best of luck lad. We had one we contested (the machine had the wrong tariff on - you could see if you inspected it carefully that a notice had been stuck over the tariff but wasn't there when we bought the ticket.) I took a photo of it. The tariff we paid had run out by the time we got back to the car - but according to the prices displayed it hadn't. They more or less said, ok we'll let you off but don't do it again! Cheeky beggars!

I once got a ticket for displaying no tax disc in a car - I was in the post-office next to the car park BUYING the disc, having bought the car about 10 minutes earlier. In fairness the warden didn't know that, but thankfully the fines office saw the funny side and cancelled the ticket.

They DIDN'T cancel it a few years later, when I'd paid in a car park, but got back to my car for a £60 fine for 'going over'. Knowing full well I hadn't gone over, I checked the ticket and the sodding machine had taken my money, but printed a 1hr ticket. They wouldn't accept that and in fact I paid it straight away (to halve it to 30), or I too would have punched the face off someone. I checked the machine and there was no 'Out of Order' sign. To say I was fuming would be an understatement, so I know how you feel only too well. Then these jobsworths WONDER why society wants to burn them alive!

I hope all goes well for you with everything. I am always getting parking tickets owing, partly to my "air headedness" but mostly due to an aversion to paying for parking in my home town where I already pay council tax and road tax. Strangely though I have only NOT got away with it twice.
