Way to go Hilary Glad you had a good time at the Hawk Conservancy Trust - isn't it a magical place. I'm afraid I must declare an interest though OH still maintains their web site from here and we were regular volunteers there when we lived in UK.

Okay.... you're all invited to view my blog then goddammit!

You see, you've all learned something new today now? Namely, that Wellie is telling the truth when she says that she's cr@p at computers. Simples. I blame Trousers! And you are very very nice people to put it right for me. I really appreciate it, because I wouldn't bother to do the blog if no-one read the stuff.

So. I've just had a ball reading how your days have gone, and what you learned along the way. This way, if you've not done one single garden-related thing and feel a fraud for posting up on What I Did Today, you can legitimately post it here, and genuinely entertain us all.

And having just told Trousers of this threads' existence, I hope he will indeed take part. We could include an 'Ask Trousers' section (similar to the 'Ask Lynn' slot on BBC Radio 2's Wake up to Wogan show 7.30-9.30 am).

Anyway... on with the show: I meant to clean the kitchen floor today, but, on account of jetlag and not getting up before midday, I stayed in my PJs all day, and made cauldron upon cauldron of tasty soups for the freezer (so that we can have soups for lunch rather than sandwiches).

However. In locating the bottom of our chest freezer, I have today learned that we already HAVE cauldron upon cauldron of soups? Silly Wellie....

Dear Trousers, welcome to the IT-Scapegoat club, may I ask how your day went and how you are enjoying the all soup diet?

Well, yesterday I learned just how trying a miserable baby can be, and how big a medal LadyWayne deserves for doing what I did yesterday day in, day out.

I was left alone with Bean - for the whole day. I had plans of things I wanted to get doned - pulling up the last of the beetroot and pickling it, picking the last Dwarf French beans, digging up the last potatoes, putting up the stair gates etc etc.

I learned that planning is dangerous.

I also learned that the capacity for food in a baby's stomach is far greater than one would imagine - epsecially as the recently fed stomach empties itself all over you, the baby, the highchair, the fridge, the bin the kitchen floor...

              2 changes later.

I also learned (well, more affirmed than learned) that I adore the little guy no matter what, and that I am utterly lucky to have the family I have.

Today I have been mostly panicking about dentist tomorrow - wisdom tooth out!
                  I am terrified!!!!
and my face hurts so much, antibiotics making me feel queasy and pain killers making me feel bad too ( they are only lasting about 2 hours)
I have had better days ;-)

After reading a thread on here today I plucked up the courage to go onto the Give Blood website & looked into going and doing it. At 29, i am ashamed to say i have never done it because i am too scared too (don't mind needles either, but a friend gave Blood few years ago & passed out afterwards wetting herself in the process)

However, i learned today that i am not eligable to give blood. Feel a bit disapointed after all that working myself up to do it!

Ouch, try not to worry too much though, dentists these days are really great and I'm sure you'll feel better once the "deed" has been done. I have been on pain killers and antibiotics too but next time I have to got to the dentist it will all be in French God knows what I will be agreeing to.

Nothing I can say will make you feel any better. Just to let you know you are not alone, I am damn near phobic about dentists I went last week though and had a filling! HUGE achievement for me. Anyhow I survived and you will too, big hugs x

Get a cuppa - this'll be a long one. Trust Me........

Ooh! I see a Wabbit! Hello Darling Peter Rabbit. Mwa! Mwa! XX
And listen - Don't feel sorry for Trousers, he's guilty as charged, until proven guilty. You should know that by now Angel?!

You know WOT? It's amazing how many of us are scared of the same things here, and it's lovely that we're all able to face, and overcome them in our own way, and move on to take the next one on the chin, whenever it decides to creep up on us unawares! Seriously.X

Okay - so, in an 'entertaining' kind of way: what did I do today, and what did I learn?

The Funny Farm Kitchen Cupboards (and the cat's tummy) were looking a bit bare, so I paid a visit to my local Waitrose. Incidentally, as BBC Radio 2 are always at pains to tell you, when they mention a brand name: "Other Supermarkets are available". Personally, if it were up to me, I'd disagree. But it isn't, so I won't. And the wineboxes are cheaper elsewhere unfortunately, so I have to shop 'all over the shop'?!

But the point of my ramblings today are to do with 'Talking To Peoples', and getting Peoples to Smile....

You know how it goes: You join the wrong queue at the bank or the supermarket - DOH! and today, I actively 'chose' to join the very shortest conveyor belt, because I chose the lady with the happiest face. Unfortunately, she was the 'newest' and had completely NO idea where 'Loose Sprouts' were on her computer - but that wasn't her fault? Because of an administrative error, neither did anyone else in the entire store.

You know wot? I hadn't even put loose sprouts into a bag anywhere near my trolley. It was the crime of the elderly lady, and her friend, in front of me.
And to cut a very long story short, they decided to give the sprouts free of charge to the two elderlies, just this once.
See Wellie tell the 'newest' checkout lady with the happiest face, that I was now going to leave my entire trolley on her conveyor 'for a minute', whilst I put the entire tray of 'Loose Sprouts' into bags, and bring them back to The Till.

Would I be so mean? No my friends..... I could have, but I didn't.
I just did what any single one of us would do, and blabbered about how I normally 'Grow My Own', but having moved house earlier this year, I'd not grown enough of them, and, oh, what a shame.
I'm sure there will be any number of you that could suggest a female equivalent to A Prize Richard to describe me now, but I had the most gorgeous conversation with her in the end about a blind man that shops there every Wednesday.
That story remains very firmly hers and mine.
                            Go find your own story.

Every day is never one to 'write home about', but today was one of the best days of Trousers's life. He had (no word of a lie) about a 3 hour telephone conversation with his bestest mate (in the world) who he hasn't seen in almost ten years, because of circumstances beyond both of their controls, and now there's a date in the diary for them to meet up once again, and I can't begin to tell you how excited they are.
                              Just Brilliant.....

Well yesterday i had my first attempt at making marmalade after seeing Seville oranges for sale in Sainsburys, and (even if i do say so myself) it's bloooomin' gorgeous!

.... good job really as there are 10 jars of the stuff!
