I've been working for the last month as an IT Trainer for the NHS.
I'm currently sat in an e-learning room near Hull, with delegates coming in to do their European Computer Driving Licence.
I have to print an 88 page booklet and then get them to read through it and complete exercises. It's the least engaging piece of training I've ever seen. When they've worked through that book, there's another 6 modules.

I feel guilty passing them a stack of paper and trying to act like I think it'll be beneficial for them. I enjoy computers and I got bored after half a page.

If it was anything like the manuals that I had to train users from then I feel sorry for you - written by people who hadn't a clue in the most part, oh well think of the money

I did a similar qualification years ago- useful at the time, but don't use most of it now. It'll look good on your CV. If the training is free, then do it.

Having had a glimpse of the Driving License it is possibly the worse written bit of training I have ever come across

WE used to do it at school, for adult ed in the evening. Now we do the OCR national, it's a bit more interesting and relevant.

You mis-read. I'm delivering the training (if you can call it delivering). I just sit them down, get them to sign a few forms and then give them a mountain of paper to work through.

And they want everyone in our Primary Care Trust to go through it.

I don't know who wrote it, but it feels like they just spilled their knowledge about computers onto paper without considering what it would be like to trawl through it.
