Am I really sad & past it? I was wondering more about how he was going to cook the duck than what else might happen. I roasted a whole Gressingham tonight. Me and OH had the breasts with roast tatties, yorkshires, sprouts, carrots & gravy for dinner. Tomorrow the legs and the rest of the meat will be done in a Chinese sauce with mushrooms & rice.

If that's sad then I'm sad too, because I was looking forward to eating the duck more than the company.
Was going to coat it in toasted sichuan pepper corns and caynne pepper, fry and then finish in the oven.
At the same time simmering lemon zest and gooseberries in sugar syrup and then adding to a reduced red wine and chicken stock sauce. Poured over the duck breasts and served with rosemary roast potatoes ans butternut squash.

It's an F-word recipe, but it's such a good use of gooseberries. If you want the full recipe I can dig it out for you.

Sounds great but unfortunately neither I or OH can stand gooseberries. So how did you meet this young lady?

She's an old work colleague from several years ago (not a strip club). I can't stress enough that the whole 'stripper' comment was pure boast and there's nothing going to happen.
...nothing that an excellently cooked duck and several bottles of wine can't overcome anyway.

She didn't totally welch, she said she wasn't feeling well and asked if we could postpone, I said "no problem, I'll just eat the duck myself and get more another time" and she said "well, if you've already got it you can still cook it for me".
I thought I'd take the opportunity to take the high-ground and not look like the desperate fool I am and suggested postponing til next week.

As I mentioned before, I'm was actually more excited about cooking duck than any of the other aspects of the evening.
