As I said; good all round Vineage. Ollie has that in abundance...it takes alot more than just strict gardening knowledge to make the forum go round...my interpretation of Member of the Month is just that - if it was Gardener of the Month I might interpret that in a completely different way.

Whilst I agree it's obviously fine to talk about whatever people want to talk about, my point was I didn't think it was worthy of being MOM, when there's plenty grapes on here who really know their onions and provide lots of gardening knowledge, help and advice.

Ill (just for the pedants) leave you to your grammar policing..

Many longer-serving grapes than you and Ollie have already wielded the banner. I take it to be given as a contribution to the grapevine community, not like conferring a gardening A-level.

Maybe the announcement should come with the list of previous banner-carriers? More work for the poor mods!

Just for the record, Ollie was nominated because he joined the Grapevine and joined in straight away with every aspect of the community - growing, cooking and eating, and chat; he starts great threads which entertain everybody; he's sensible and keeps a cool head if things seem to be getting 'het-up'; he's helpful and supportive if anyone needs it, and he was suggested by at least one other Grape. In short, he's everything that a Member of the Month should be Soz if this has embarrassed you hun, but it needed saying!

It is very difficult to choose a single MoM out of so many deserving Grapes, but we choose a shortlist every month, which is then selected from by Admin. The shortlist is chosen from; those who give great gardening advice, those who consistently support the community aspects of the Vine, and relative newcomers who show enthusiasm and community spirit.
Any Grape is free to suggest another Grape if they wish to do so (with reasons, not just cos they're a pal ) and they will then be shortlisted.

I really hope we don't have any more horrid outbursts like that again, apart from being totally unjustified, it also shows a complete lack of manners

good idea.. I think the mods do a great job, and you have more than enough to do keeping us all in order and keeping spammers away, etc. the last thing you need is having to sort out avoidable issues,

What a diplomat Sarz and well expressed. On the plus side, our little differences make us what we are - a group on the vine (going through the storming, forming, norming stages!) It's all great!!
