I bought a car off Ken Morley (Reg Holdsworth) who lives in the same village as I did as a lass..... what a lovely chap, very friendly and funny too, but approachable and normal if you know what I mean.

Went into Preston town centre to a pub for lunch with Drew, didnt realise but was sat next to Hunter from Gladiators! I really wanted to ask him for his autograph, but my pride being what it is, couldnt bring myself to do it! You shouldve seen the faces on the girls sat opposite! Nice guy, but he knew it.... I still fancied him though!Bernie aka DDL

The (little known) author Cecil Henry Bullivant is my great-grandfather
Mr Sheds went to school with Jason Statham (his dad & brother still work round here). Jason was a couple of years above Mr S, so he couldn't have been born in '72. His fame has given him amnesiaAll gardeners know better than other gardeners." -- Chinese Proverb.

A couple of years ago I went to a house to see someone about a burglary they had been unfortunate to have. Imagine how suprised I was when Paul SHANE (Hi Di Hi) answered the door - he thought it was very funny as this young woman repeatedly opened her mouth making no sound and going redder and redder......it was my favourite programme when I was younger!
What a lovely man he was and we ended up talking about his life rather than the reason I was there - he even made me a coffee, bless him.
My great great grandad was one of the founding members of Barnsley Football club and was an international football referee - shame things went downhill from there for them.Last edited by Sprocket*; 08-11-2009, 09:01 AM.Karen

When we got wed my Dad built, at cost, a house for us. We became his neighbours. A few years later he sold up and moved to Dorset, The chap who bought his place was Patrick McGoohan. (Who's he I hear you ask). He was at that time filming 'The Prisoner' at Elstree. We never became friends just good neighbours and I sometimes babysat for his litluns.

Lance Percival was behind me singing in church once - you can't mistake that singing voice.

Err I remember having this topic as an essay at school once....
I dont have any famous relatives, or at least non I know of.
Bono gave me his jacket...long story... which I had until about 10 years ago then my OH gave it to a homeless charity thinking it looked a bit tatty.....!!!
I met the late great Stuart Adamson...
Arthur Scargill bought me a drink when I was young, this is probably just after the Miners Strike.
I sat next to Pam Ayres on a train once...
Oh a long time ago... I filled the Rev Ian Paisley's car up with petrol, he gave me a £1 tip too, which was a lot of money in 1982!
I used to work for John Denham MP before he was an MP.
Think thats it

I used to be a waitress in a banqueting place when I was a student - we met Ken DODD, Billy Pearce and I regularly served the late Charlie WILLIAMS his Sunday Lunch. He has to be one of the nicest men ever and would take time to ask about my week at college and told me that I should aim for the stars. He always remembered what you had told him the week before and made you feel like a star. RIP Charlie.
In the same place I served Arthur SCARGILL (he lived round the corner) and he tried to leave a tip on his credit card so that he could claim it back on expenses, ummm....
We always used to get the former Northern Ireland Secretary - Lord MASON and his team of Special Branch Police. I have never met a more ignorant man.
It feels very strange thinking about it all now...Karen
