Hmmm... I feel more like I'm flitting over the top of a bog - there's some quite horrible stuff going on, but it hasn't managed to suck me down yet!

Thats just how I feel at the moment. I try really hard to be positive, glass half full and all that, thats a bit tricky at the moment.

I honestly believe that all I can be certain about in life is that it will change. The bad stuff goes and so does the good stuff. At the moment I am wandering about muttering, this too shall pass

I totally agree with that one Olly! I'm generally a very positive 'up' person, and if down, I don't stay there for long. I'm a believer in 'everything happens for a reason' and we should all learn from what life throws at us.

Externally, I probably come over as a miserable auld git (at least that's what my kids call me in a joky way)

Internally I am a happy person who realises I have a lot to be thankful for.
Married with three kids..........all have good jobs and have rewarded me with three grandchildren!
I want for nothing and although I am not rich, I don't owe anyone a penny.

I think I'm a happy person but feel I have been bog-trotting for a fair number of years now. Hubby did not get good news from his neurologist on Monday and my knees buckled. But then I come on here and feel a fraud cause some Grapes are really suffering.

Some time ago I was having a pretty tough time, I was talking to my sister (she was a little drunk) and she told me that my mum had told her, "perhaps if you have a cold or a headache or something you shouldn't tell Ollie about it, he has enough to deal with of his own". It's one of the few times I've given my mum a really stern 'talking to'; yes I had some problems, but that didn't mean no-one else was allowed to have any. Keeping them from me only made me feel like they thought I didn't care about them and when you're at a low, sharing problems is one of the best cures.

I couldnt agree more with you Alison. I know how lucky I am, with my family, friends and job and try to count my blessings everyday. As my little saying goes, "Appreciate the litte things in life because one day you will realise they are the big things"

Completely agreed. When Ive been having the worst times its made me feel so much better talking to others and helping others out. Imay even go as far as saying it was a nice distraction.

i agree with so many of the comments above and particularly chuckled at the Mother Theresa one!

like so many of you i am a naturally optimistic person, with OH being more of a glass half empty type and i sometimes find that he sucks me down....usually not for long and i'm lucky enough to have horses, chickens, sheep and my garden (not to mention great family and friends) so i dont stay down for long.
