Just had a sticky 10 minutes trying to figure out how on earth I got my computer screen to turn upside down.
Phew - found out how to put it back - (ctrl+alt+up arrow)
Has anything like this happened to you?
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?

LadyWayne and Bean just came into the office to see my new desk and Bean was sat at my desk. He then banged away on the keyboard and did some stuff. No idea what the stuff was, or what effect it'll have - but screens were appearing all over the shop.

Just had a client who couldn't log into the network from her laptop, she could 10 minutes ago, she had accidentally hit Num Lock (which changes some of the qwerty keys to numbers on a lappy) , fortunately this happens all the time to lappy users

Apparently some of the "F" keys have magical powers?!

At the moment we're struggling to work out our volume. When we turn on the computer it's not there. However if we press restart, when it comes back on the volume is miraculously there?

Do you mean volume as in sound or volume as in a storage device, if storage device then the first thing I would do is make sure you have backed up your data

I've just spent 1/2 hr with 'Mahesh' at BT Broadband I had a long standing problem with sending email from websites. They went into a folder somewhere. Pop3 or something. However, after a very bad start of not understanding a word he said and vici verci he took control of my PC. It was weird to see the cursor roaming and clicking on it's own. Anyway he reports that there is nothing wrong with my email and I was only too pleased to say 'thankyou very much and goodbye'.
I have just tried to send an email to book some accommodation (keeping fingures crossed). It disappeared but along with 6 other pending posts. Lol I cannot for the life of me remember what they were about. That said, they do not appear in my sent folder on BT Yahoo.

Where did you send the emails from - was it the BT web site email login (Dont BT use Outlook Web Access) or did you send it from an email client (like Outlook Express or Outlook), if you sent it from an email client and you are using POP3 or IMAP then they wouldn't appear on the BT web mail sent items.

During my degree we used to tell people that Alt+F4 gave them priority on the server and so speeded up their connection.
It closes your current window. A lot of work was lost using that technique!

Ok, I see (not really) but thanks anyway

That is exactly my problem. I think I am Outlook Express and my isp is BT Yahoo. Anymore than that I was hoping Mahesh could explain. A message would flash on screen quoting access to Pop3 denied or something. At the moment I have the attitude 'if it aint broke don't mend it' and will wait and see if my accommodation booking request is ever received.

With POP3 you can sometimes get whats called POP Lock, this happens if you are polling your mailbox (held on the BT servers) and say it is downloading messages and you either click on Send/Receive again while the intial polling is still happening or the Send/Receive schedule is set to a low number (<5 minutes), either of these could result in a denied message, another reason could also be that the BT mail servers are really busy and they cannot deal with your request.

I think you are spot on. As already mentioned I could'nt understand Mahesh' accent but now you explain it so clearly I think that was what he was telling me. Time will tell.....

The school computers mess around with the volume too. Every lesson we have to re-set half of them (in main menu, on the desktop).

                              It goes like this:
child logs on, which takes 5 mins
                              child says headphones are broken
                              teacher checks connection
                              child says headphones still broken
teacher tells child to log out, which takes 5 mins
child then sets the volume on the main menu
child then logs back on, which takes 5 mins
then the bell goes for break
