When you say its not there do you mean in the system tray, what Operating System are you using.

I have the box ticked for 'volume icon on toolbar'. Sometimes when I switch on it is there, sometimes it isn't (and when it is there, sometimes other things aren't) I can get it to appear (that much I know how to do) but no idea why it usually fails to appear. The things that are not on the toolbar if the volume is are newer, so I can only imagine that they stop it appearing (somehow) and occasionally the machine 'starts up' with an older set of start-up instructions.....

If you still have difficulty, would you not be better opening a hotmail or yahoo account to send & receive emails. I'm sure Teb will be able to confirm.

Just trying to help out Teb.........I am assuming you mean the icons in the bottom right hand corner. They are the applications that you are running & when you have too many, you should get an arrow allowing you to view all of them. If the speaker icon is hid, you should be able to see it if you click on the arrow, then adjust as normal.

Nope! I know that one. Not got too many anyway, but there are a couple of 'unused' that hide (links to old printers etc). Volume isn't there..... (but it is on the proper place today)
            Thanks anyway.
