Gardeners Rest #4

"Right!" said Nicos and Jeanied in unison... "we need to cast the Christmas Carol as soon as we can!
We will be holding auditions for the following parts, who will be decided by nomination - self nomination or by another grape.
1) Ebenezer scrooge - now who would be willing to play this key leading part - Ebenezer is a man who has led a very narrow and self-absorbed life and who is only just beginning to realise the wonderful world of grow your own and what the friendship and cameraderie can bring
2) the ghost of Christmas past - who remembers how it used to be and can show how it helps us to be what we are today
3) the ghost of Christmas present - who can show the world as it is,warts and all...
4) the ghost of Christmas to be - how wonderful our world could be next year, God willing!

Other parts - too numerous to mention -but here we make a start
The goose - (who is not going to get eaten as we are going veggie this Christmas -but who is going to keep the foxes off our chooks/
The chooks - who are going to sing our carols for us
Several Beans - who are going to play a magical part in our journey from what we were to what we are going to be...
Now who else has some ideas?

Jeanied unfurled the great script scroll and with an intense scowl of concentration began to scribble in her best illegible handwriting.

Orphans - Now who on earth appeared in the Christmas Carol and how can we get some good drinking scenes in?
She stopped in despair. How on earth can this get written, cast and produced before Christmas - without the help of other Grapes? She needed a co-writer!
Suddenly from the depths of the vine a rescuing voice sounded - "I can help you write the script volunteered ..."

....Wayne, Ollie & BigMally..."The Three Must Have Beers, at your service" said Ollie " I hate to see a maiden in distress or any other dress come to mention it"...........

[Jeanied]

"Phew", said Jeanied, "I feared this could have turned into a complete disaster! With not one but 3 trusty co-writers we will have the best pantomime ever this year! Now BigMally, I have noticed what an extraordinary turn of phrase you have - you are needed to script the part of Scrooge. Wayne - yours is the little'uns and young Cratchits. Ollie - you are in charge of the Ghosts - all 3 - and good luck with 'em cos they are a feisty lot!"
Jeanied turned back to the script and began to scribble furiously - only to be interrupted by ...

...Ginger, "would you like a flagon of ale wench, tis thirsty work this script writing, how about some of snowdrops nuts to nibble on while your at it???"

The mood in the Gardeners Rest was light hearted to say the least, the three "F's" were the order of the evening...friends, food & frolicking, mostly frolicking.
There was a debate going on round the big oak table as to what sort of Christmas tree to get & where abouts to put it, how it should be decorated and when to purchase it, " You do know we'll have to make room on it for all the chooks to roost" said.............

" Can I be the fairy on the top?" asked Pingu..she'd always fancied being top of the pecking order......

I don't think that is such a good idea nudged her friend. It would make you eggbound for quite some time.

...."well that's the decorations sorted, this could be the very first ever chicken covered Christmas tree and yes Pingu you can be the fairy on the top, We'll have to put an electric fence round it to keep the fox's out, but I think we can manage that" said Auntie Mo.
"Only one thing, its going to have to be a BIIIIIG tree to fit all the ladies on" said Lynda giggling into her 4th brain hemorrhage cocktail, "Ginger, I think you've nearly got the mix right" she said with a grin and a set of hick hick's.

The residents of the Gardeners Rest were getting more organised by the hour, the tree decorations were sorted, the pantomime was well on its way to being wrote, the gents were all being fitted tho some were enjoying it a bit too much, the food & refreshments were flowing nicely...when........

[Nicos]

..in walked Piglet with the hugest, roundest genetically modified clump of mistletoe.
" Here- this should last well into the New Year"
Hanging it from the centre of the huge oak beam, he stood back and admired it.
" Ya know what- I been thinking...."

" Oh no...." cried the workers
"Oh yes...." cried piglet
" Oh no ..." cried the workers....

" Lets have a sponsored snogathon- to buy up the lotties the Council want to turn into a Park-n-ride...we could get HFW to come along to help with a big landshare project and I'm sure he'd contribute some of his time under the mistletoe!!!"........

[Nicos]

Piskie rushed over and placed a stool directly under the mistletoe
" well I'm ready to start...how tall exactly is he??"

[Nicos]

Bramble and Richmond had been sitting quietly in the corner
" A chicken decorated Xmas tree??...perfect- look what we've been making!!!"

[ginger ninger]

........Meanwhile outside there was such a commotion as "Antony Worrall Thomson" was lead away by police for causing a breach of the peace, He'd heard about the snogathon and wanted to know why he hadn't been invited......

..problem was that a bunch of Grapes had spotted him- and wanted him to sign their T-shirts so as the police pushed him into the car- they pulled him back out again....

..oh no you don't...

poor ol AWT was starting to get travel sick with all the comings and goings....
