There has been a competition on Runners World to win one of six special places in next year's London Marathon. The winner not only gets a place on the start line, but months of expert coaching, hundreds of pounds worth of freebies and a stay in a posh London hotel the night before the race. They had 2,400 entries this year and although I still can't quite believe it, I'm on the shortlist of 20 people competing for six places. I'm really sorry to start a thread on something completely off topic, but I'm a desperate woman and whether or not I make it to the start line now depends on how many votes I get, hence this plea.
