    Grandmas best recipes

I bought this book in the summer whilst on holiday and since then every weekend I have used it to make some great food, ist simple to follow and the best part is things really do turn out how they say and they are eatable, before this book I tried a few others with dissapointing results so I gave up now I love cooking and every spare hour is spent cooking. Its also a very good price.

Lots of good suggestions here, another thought is the library so she can try a few before buying?

      Good Luck

Would agree with HFW's books although some of the recipe's can be a bit ott perhaps. For me, as a bloke who didnt really cook before, I found Delia to be brilliant, very simple, clear and concise instructions, I really rate her for beginners (WHERE ARE YA? LETS BE HAVING YA).

Also, as Paul Sill mentioned above, the Hamlyn books are really simple to follow.

Hamlyn new all colour cookbook ISBN 0-600-32640-3 Good book, with a pic for each recipe and a tip at the bottom of each page.

I love my Marguerite Patten Cookery in colour book.
I found it from £1 upwards on Amazon for you.
Any book by her would be good though, there are a number of her step by step cookery books available on Amazon too.
It even includes conversion charts for weights and oven temeratures in the front cover.
