I am writing a history of the Second World War Dig for Victory Campaign, due for publication in 2011, and would like to make contact with anyone who has a story to tell. Perhaps you were there yourself and have memories to share. Or maybe you remember the stories of a parent who was involved, or even have some documentary material (eg diaries) you would be willing to share. If you think you might be able to help, please contact me by PM.

I dont have anything to contribute but it sounds like a really great subject to be researching. Dont know where you live but in Yorkshire there is a museum called Eden camp that is the story of the war inside a British POW camp. Really interesting place to visit and lots of individuals experiences documented. Sure there would be some relating to Digging for Victory. Enjoy your project and keep us updated on progress

My own experience is one of many others'. Our small N London back garden became a mini allotment. At the end, I clearly remember a row of rabbit hutches and a chicken coop. The cockerel really did rule the roost and I was scared to venture into his domain. He would attack anything and anybody. Whilst my Dad was serving abroad my Mum had to take over the role of provider and I can see her now toiling away till dark. I remember her efforts of introducing the buck to the doe and providing the lady with extra nourishment. We waited patiently for the new arrivals. The doe, nicely fatted up waiting for 'her' daily goodies but the buck suckling 'his' new babies.
