I gnipped into Tescos for some of those things you cant grow, dunny rolls, cat food and other such essentials this morning.

Well, on the end of a shelf there was a big stack of 1L bottles of Baileys down from £14 to £10. So, one for the neighbour, one for the wife and one for our daughter went into the basket.

At the checkout I was charged the £14 so went to customer services. The offer ended yesterday but as the prices were still displayed for the offer I got double the difference back.

Net result, three 1L bottles of Baileys for £6 each.

Similar story from my wife and myself. Went to SAinsbury's some time ago, and saw a beautiful rib of beef in the chiller reduced from £10:99 to £7:99. As its our favourite cut of beef, we bought it. Got to the check out, and the young girl scanned it - guess what? 79p! Yep, 79p! The EPOS had been incorrectly entered. The checkout girl called a supervisor over, who said, yes the price is wrong, but as that was the one that came up, that's what they had to charge. So, a beautiful roast beef joint for 79p!! MM! MM! MM!

You're lucky, I think we have a mean manager at our Tesco. They aren't very good at keeping the info up to date, but they will never refund any overcharge. Depending what we are buying we either have to get a total refund or pay the full price. Even when it is a true overcharge they have ignored the 'double the difference' policy, and OH won't argue the toss.

I got held up in one of our local supermarkets a couple of years ago. The elderly lady in front of me had an item in her basket that didn't have a bar code or price on. The checkout operator weighed it, but couldn't find the price on her list. She checked the list 2 or 3 times, and looked embarrassed. The shop was really busy, and she was looking a bit flustered, so I said to her "If there's no price marked anywhere, it should be free!" She looked at me, looked at the little old Lady, grinned, and said, "Yup, suits me!" and gave it her for nothing. I got a wink from the little old Lady too

so second pack cost 1p there promotion i add. anyway they were in the reduced section at £3 per pack and lots of them so bought 2 packs £6 tillthen rduced the offer paid 1p for 2 packs.

Yeah, I've had items that they paid me to take away in Waitrose (reduced from £1 to 25p, but also on 3 for £2, or similar, that ends up as 3, plus £1.25, but I made that one up as an example). I think they are more careful now and never reduce things so much that you get paid to buy it, but you do sometimes get great bargains that way.

I once was overcharged in a supermarket for a case of beer. Once I pointed out the error, I was sent to customer services. They then printed out a ticket and asked for my name and address. I asked why and was told it was for my 'refund'.

I refused, stating that I wasn't getting a refund, but having money returned to me that they had taken incorrectly. The inbred behind the till rolled his studded nostrils and said that I couldn't have the money without filling in my details.

We then had a "get the manager" moment, which escalated into a "get the f***ing manager" moment. The manager arrived, as requested. He was quite abrupt, and told me I had to give my details. He also commented to the retard at the till that "some people just want to be awkward".

Eventually, he offered me the money without having to sign, and explained it was a mistake. I asked what would happen if an old lady had mistakenly forgotten to pay for something. He explained that their policy was to prosecute. I asked what would happen if she then offered to pay. he said policy was to refuse payment and to prosecute.

I told him to keep his money, that I shared his policy, and I took out a private prosecution against them for theft!
