My OH watches this programme avidly. When I hear him screech out I know it is time for me to go and be exhilarated by the goings on. Tonight there was a young woman who dealt at £????. only to learn that she had £250,000. in her box.
Will she live the rest of her life thinking 'if only' or will she be able to take it on the chin and say 'that's life'. How would you feel?

she was a Essex girl who was one of them with a lot to say giving out advice to other contestants but forgot it all when it was her turn .
She dealt for £23,000 with £265,000 left on the board with only 5 boxes left....jacob

Drew loves watching this programme too, though we dont often get the chance, even on the hour after channel. Methinks he is the Banker as he always, always, always gets the Bankers offer correct! How spooky is that?

I've never seen the programme but I take (from here) the point - I would say 'that's life' - 'if only' isn't worth a doggies do do, 'if onlys' are hanging around waiting for something that didn't happen

I just heard this morning a quote from Margaret Thatcher - I don't know if any grapes think she's worth quoting, but apparently she used to say to her children this - not sure if I have it word-perfect:

"Don't look back - you're not going in that direction"

I hope the young woman from Deal or No Deal goes with that attitude - after all, she's £23,000 better off -

I don't think I'd mind too much. Easy to say I suppose, but there you go. I'd enjoy the thousands that I'd won, and convince myself that the £250,000 would have led to no good or something.

I do know someone in my mum's village who did the lottery every week, and his 6 numbers came up....the only week his wife didn't get the ticket. He hasn't recovered from it. He would have won a couple of million, and didn't. It's made him quite depressed apparently. It's easy to say, oh well, money isn't everything, he should get over it, etc. but I'm not sure how easy it when it's 'your' two million that's just passed you by...

On the recent series of Are You an Egghead, one contestant had been on Who Wants to be a Millionaire previously and it was mentioned that he'd got up to £250,000 - the next question was for £500,000. However, he got it wrong and 'lost' £218,000 - His comment was to the effect that he didn't really 'lose' that money, he'd never had it in the first place and £32,000 was in itself a big win.

As for me, I do the same 2 lines in the twice-weekly Lotto and have done for 20 years - so I have to keep doing them in case they come up.

One of my daughters has commented, "the only way you'll get those numbers to come up is to stop doing them."

Ah well, I hope to collect one of these weeks...
