  • advent?

I have bought my boys choclolate advent calendars (been very good and not got one for me). They will be very excited for the next 25 days lol. Especially as they will get choccie with their breakfast!

What do you have in your home? Candle? Calendars? Or one of those posh box type affairs that I am always saying I will get but never get round to buying...

And it means I can have a go at my wreath now -

I always buy Snowdrop an advent calendar, very sad given his age and all, but he loves it

We had a mad rush to get them down from the loft...I had in my head it wasn't December until Wednesday!
Thankfully the little chocolate Santas & Snowmen were bought last week in preparation and Daisy & Ash filled their felt calendars just before bed.One is a Santa with a big wooly beard & the other a reindeer. They hang on the fireplace and are replaced with their stockings on Christmas Eve.
They've also got a non choccie one each from Andi's mum...she doesn't believe in chocolate ones...how one can disbelieve when they're stocked in nigh on every shop!
I'm loving it as it's the first night in ages they've gone to sleep well...I told them if they didn't I'd eat their chocolate!
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

Happiness is not having what you want, but wanting what you have.xx

My little one has a non chocolate one, it just has a picture under each door.

She only has sweets now and then, besides her favourite is dib dabs and I dont think they make advent calendars

Don't think choccies ones existed when I was a kid and if they did, nobody I knew had one. Bought one for me and OH a few years ago and we ended up throwing most of the choccie away as it was really cheap and nasty so not bought on since although do keep meaning to make a reusable one which I can put little surprise pressies in each pocket. One thing though, when I was little am sure that there were only 24 doors on it and it was always a navity scene on Christmas eve so how come they now have an extra day?

Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.

Which one are you and is it how you want to be?

My mum always buys our calendars and posts them to us, but they have to be Christianity themed (being an Anglican as she is). But she's never found a Christian chocolate one, so they're always just doors.
It's still fun texting her what I open each day and quite often trying to work out what some of the pictures are!

Well it is Christmas so that doesn't seem unreasonable really! Nice of you to text her though, she must like that

My friends mum bought her boys a wonderful nativity one. It's fabric and starts as a near empty scene and each day they have to add a different character/animal,finishing with Baby Jesus on Christmas Eve.
Ours only go up to 24...although I made a total twit of myself earlier...Daisy's one from her nan appeared to have two "8"s on it.As half the square was on a black background Andi sussed it must be "18"......"or 28" says I!

Yup, I have no problem with that, especially as pagan themed calendars really don't exist!

I guess it must be because the children don't get enough sweets and treats and excitement on christmas day itself so they have to have an extra one...

Ha ha - exactly what I would have said.

We've got one Lindt chocolatey one so Mr R can open with our little girl in the morning and they can share it.

I really wanted a nice one - bought a lovely one in Durham last year - but haven't seen anything 'special' this year.

My bad, I forgot! My poor kiddies had nothing to open today. I have fabric type ones with little pockets in the loft that are close to the hatch so will get those down. I bought chocolate coins ready for my eldest last week, but my middle boy is allergic to dairy so have to find some alternative for his. I think the baby won't mind this year!
