Fun Party Game Ideas for Managers Party

So, my first job as Tom's PA is to organise a Manager's Christmas Party (to which I am also invited ).

I've booked the restaurant, and they will have piped music and christmas decorations/crackers etc in the room, but Tom wants it to be a real party, not just 'eat and go'.

I've decided to do some simple party games, but am a bit stuck for ideas and thought 'I know who can help - the Vine!'. There'll be 11 of us all be round one table, but there will be other groups in the room with us, so nothing too raucus.

The one game I've chosen is - 5 items in a pillowcase. Everyone gets a turn to feel the contents, writes down what they think everything is and points are awarded for getting it right, with bonus points if people are really specific. I'm thinking of stealing things from work that everyone should recognise, ie Bill's mini football, but bonus points for saying bills mini Scotland football - see?

Any more ideas??

At one party I went to we all had to supply a photo beforehand of when we were babies/young/in fancy dress etc. - something that didn't look like us. They were all scanned and printed and each person had to identify the people from their pictures (if you get what I mean) Might be a lot of work for you and I expect your time is limited (new job and everything) but it was fun and not too raucus.

I used to have to create training energisers and ice breakers all the time. At the moment none are springing to mind, but a resource I used to tap on a regular basis is drinking games.
There are lots of websites dedicated to them and most of them don't require too many props. You just have to modify them to exclude doing shots and replace it with forfeits or prizes.

There's always the various modifications of "who am i?"

Everyone gets a post-it note with a famous character on, they then have to establish who they are by either:
- Asking up to 20 yes/no questions
- Walking around the room asking one question to each person of who they are and answering one question for each person.
- Alternatively create the famous people as famous couples, each person uses one of the above techniques to establish who they are, and then who their partner is.

This can also be done by putting all the names in a basket. Dividing the room into 2 teams, each team has 3 minutes to work through the basket getting their team to guess the names. 3 rounds are played:
- 1st round: can describe the person without using their name, doing impressions or using actions.
- 2nd round: can only use one word (by this point all names have been worked through once in round 1)
- 3rd round: cannot speak, actions only.

teams receive one point for each successful guess. once guessed names are moved to a 'guessed' basket which is kept seperate until the source basket is exhausted and the next round begins.

Coz people always say to me 'Rachel blah blah blah...' and I got fed up looking blankly at them until they realised their mistake (or continuing walking in the opposite direction ignoring them). So now I just go with it.

What a shame it's only a party for managers, I know that there are sometimes good reasons but it does annoy me when things get elitist

I was thinking the chocolate game but that could get quite raucous.
Just in case, you need:
1 large bar of chocolate
1 plate
1 knife
1 fork
1 hat
1 scarf
1 pair of gloves or mittens
1 dice
Go round the table taking turns to throw the dice. If someone throws a 6 they have to put the hat, gloves, scarf on and eat the chocolate with the knife and fork (don't uinwrap it beforehand it adds to the fun). Meanwhile everyone else carries on taking turns throwing the dice and when the next 6 is thrown the eater stops and hands everything over to the next person.
You could substitute the clothing with seasonal items to be put on.

Aah, fear not Alison - the full Christmas party is on the 18th. It starts at 10am and goes through til 6pm, then most people continue on to a bar in town and then onto a nightclub!! Last year i was home by 4pm doing the ironing though!!
