    Lovely, big

    • I have been visiting my parents all day and only just got home to open my SS pressie. Can I just say a HUGE OMG, WOW and THANKYOU to my Secret Santa!!

Inside the large box was a mulberry bush and a book about container gardening!

SS - in your note you say that you hope you haven't made a mistake sending me a mulberry bush?? ABSOLUTELY NOT!! Thankyou sooooo much! That was the most fantastic pressie ever - I love fruit!! I have the hugest grin plastered on my face, I'm so happy! THANKYOU THANKYOU THANKYOU you WONDERFUL person!!
Just in case you're worried, the soil was a bit dry, but I've watered it and it seems fine with new growth on it
Thankyou also for the advice on how to look after it etc - now I have to decide whether to plant it out or keep it in a pot... hmmm, decisions!

      • Thank you to my SS... I awoke to unwrap a 'Morning Glory' , some homemade grape jelly (yummy - straight on the toast tomorrow morning), and some tea towels to protect the jelly. Tea towels... what the dishwasher can't do I end up washing so I needed some new towels anyway. Might wear one on my head!

Still can't work out which one of you grapes was sacrificed for this yummy jelly though...
        Let's go diggin' dirt....

          • Can I just say a mega big THANK YOU to my SS Mr Frosty and I ate the Drumsticks and Refreshers for breakfast (what a blast from the past they were) Oh, and I'm already into August in the Digger's Diary (Tales from the Allotment). Tomorrow I'll go to Morrisons and get some squared paper cause I need to re-do my plans for next year, the book has given me so many new ideas (I just love the idea about slug pellets in the water bottle). Not to mention the extra seeds you sent - naughty but I like it I think the post mark on the package was Northamptonshire. Can I again apologise to the recipient of my present (not Zazen), I'm rubbish at buying presents and this year again I've been shown just how bad I am.

                • Thank You to my SS,
I love the smell of Roses, the Rose hand Salve reminds me of summer, my Lip Balm will come in very handy as this cold weather drys my lips, so I might be getting a few more kisses from the OH, the beautiful trinket box matches my bed room so well, even though the cat tried to run off with the tassel on it, the 3 little packets of seeds that were hiding inside are very much appreciated, Thank You, I hope you had a wonderful Christmas.

                  To RedThorn & Allotment Lady,
You both have done a fantastic job of organising the Secret Santa and I very much enjoyed the excitement of receiving my beautiful gift, may you both have a great growing season next year and a Very Healthy and Happy New Year, (((((BIG HUGS)))))) & XXXXX to you both.

                            • I have forgotten to say THANK YOU to RT and Allotment Lady (I'm a bad, wude, wummin'). I don't often gush but I got carried away about the book I received - which I've finished (some sod nicked Saleem exhibition tatties but Victor got Alan's allotment so could get his vineyard after all). Now I've got a question - Saleem grows Desiree tatties and only digs them up in winter as and when he needs them, says Desiree don't get damaged by slugs etc. Is that true? I've never grown Desiree so could I grow them next year and just lift over winter - HEELLLLLPPPPPPPPPPPP!

                              • I grow some Desiree every year, they have to be my favourite ever mashers Not terribly blight resistant, though they are an Early Maincrop so I usually get something from them. Haven't ever had much slug trouble with them - there's usually one or two tubers with a slug hole i, but that's about it
