  • HTML question from a Poota numpty :o

Hello, all you lovely clever poota experty type peeps! Ok, you guessed, I want sommat LOL

I don't 'speak' HTML, so when I'm pasting my blurb from 'MS Word' to my eBay listing, it just comes out in one line of small text, instead of all my formatting. They used to have the facility to do it on eBay, but it seems to have disappeared! I thought Microsoft would've included the facility in Windows, but if they did, I don't appear to have it.

I've 'Googled' for ages, and got more and more confused. All I want is a list of basic HTML codes, to make my life easier. I don't want to produce web pages or anything complicated. Could anyone point me in the right direction, please?

    Pretty please

If you save the Word file as an html file (using the 'File>Save As' option), then open the html, right click and select 'view source', this should show the document with all the html markers. Copying and pasting this should retain the formatting, although it will probably look slightly different as html doesn't use some functionality such as tabs.

There may be an easier way to do it, but I'm pretty sure this will work.

The only problem with that is all the other carp that Word insists on putting in there.

Presumably all you're looking for G4 is stuff like changing font sizes, making bits bold and simple things like that?

I tried putting "ebay html editor" into Google and it came up with a few ideas.

        How about this?

you could email your Word text to 'someone' who could add the HTML bits and they can email it back to you and then you can see what you need to write for next time

my email address is on my profile if you need me

Jeeez you lot are great - thanks!

Ollie, you sweetie - it didn't work the first time, so I tried a slightly different way, and it worked! Once I get the basics in my head I'll be fine. It's just because I've never bothered to learn it before (lazy cow!)

With the web being the way it is, you'd think MS would've got it sorted - or is it only me that thinks it should be a basic part of Windoze?

HotStuff, I've bookmarked it for future reference - many thanks!

Piskie - you're such a love, it's very decent of you to offer

LD - I feel like that with most of the other Pooter questions on here lol!
