I shop in tesco's mainly because of the price we do use other shops ie Sainburys Morrisons and Asda but when you are a OAP price counts so i go where the price is right and use the buy one get one free for the stuff we use .
Where i live all the supermarkets are at least 8 miles away except Asda which is 11 miles so it is Tesco's for me at the biggest Tesco's in England the Richo arena park in Coventry.
It is all right when you are younger and a bit richer you can be independant but as you get older you aint so fussy i am not haveing a go at any body with this post but that is as i see it....jacob

My favourite is Waitrose, but reality means its the local Tescoids for bits we cannot get from the butcher and grocer situated 50 yards from our front door. The grocers milk is cheaper than Tescoids, as is thier fruit.

For years I shopped at my local Co-op - walking distance, on the way home - but it ended up being taken over by Morrisons (not before time - poor management). Walking a bit further I get to Tescos Metro which is a bit down at heel as it is waiting for a brand new 24 hour superstore to be built round the corner on an old factory site . If I walk a bit further on I get to the exotic realms of Aldi - and on the same site is an Iceland. My preference? I did like the old Co, but it really didn't do itself justice.

Damned those bladdy signs they hang all along the aisles! Have to duck under the flaming things.

It's another vote for Waitrose for me. Expensive - I'd agree, it's not "cheap".

            My kinda place.

            Some Co-Ops are nice too.

I popped into Waitrose last Sunday about 3.00 when they sell of their reduced stuff. I also bought a bottle of gin. It was my intention to make a lemoncello for my daughters birthday present. When I got home I searched high and low for said 'gin'. I had to use some vodka in stock. On Monday I went back into Waitrose and politely explained that I had somehow or other lost the gin. No further questions were asked apart from did I want a refund or replacement. Now that's what I call service.

I'm a supermarket tart, I like certain things from certain ones so I will go to at least 3 different ones for my monthly shop.

We also have a butcher in the next village who does the most wonderful sausages ever. They are simply gorgeous, expensive but worth every penny.

                  In order of scoring-

1st Waitrose - not necessarily the most expensive.
                  2nd Sainsburys - good value

From there, I should have to say the cheaper supermarkets such as Aldi, Lidl and Netto score very well.

Asda, not bad, but no store near us.

Morrisons, having been charged £9.99 for something that was 99p. When we went back to complain we were told we were liars (ie they were not prepared to believe us - I ask you for £9.00) If I was going to turn to crime it would be for more than £9.00). Never been in a Morrisons since. They lost a lot of trade for £9.00.

                  Somerfield and Co-op very expensive.

Tesco may be cheap, but their meat is inedible. TOUGH. Yeuk. It is a shame that so many animals are slaughtered to produce such inedible ?meat.

My local was Somerfields, but it got taken over by Co-Op.
It took them ages to get the stock ordering sorted, but I think they have it sussed now.
                    Next nearest is Asda.
I get a monthly shop from Asda because it is good value, and the odds and sods from the Co-Op on my way home from work.
There is a Sainsburys near the office, but I find it really expensive and dont use it too much if I can avoid it.
There are a couple of Tesco Expresses also near work; I prefer them if I need anything during the day.

                      Waitrose.

                      That's it.

                      Can't afford them often though.

Having worked at Waitrose when I was at school - i have always had a soft spot for them. i know their policies, so I know I am getting quality (and fresh produce) but you pay for it.

Second choice is sainsburys. We live near a huge tesco at Gatwick and to be honest when i go there I just buy the offers in the aisle down the middle of the shop (all the loss leaders).

Tesco are good for wine. To be honest we do the majority of our shopping at a local shop at the end of our road. About opnce a month we go to tesco for the things they don't stock. We have found that our local shop is cheaper than Tesco for most things so we save both on shopping bill and fual as well as supporting a local business.

We do the rounds, starting off at the cheapest places i.e. Leader Price and Lidl and then either Carrefour or Leclerc. But I must say I do miss Marks & Spencers or Tesco's!

Love Waitrose but can't afford them. Local Tescos leaves me in a bad mood and wanting to hurt people! Coop at the end of the road used to be fab but has been downsized and is a bit pricey now.

                              So just no pleasing me

Booths...it's a northern store and buys in local produce.

It's also a bit like a cross between Tesco and Waitrose. Lots of staff to help too! ( with reasonable prices)

If you've never heard of them- take a look at locations....
