The last cheque i wrote out was over a year ago, its so easy to use a debit card or online services. As banks do basic accounts for those who have had financial difficulties, which come with a card, what is the issue?
As you say, it is "so easy to use debit cards", which could be a problem for many. Also, it's not easy to use online services if you don't have access to a computer.

Another problem is tracking. There isn't a stub to fill in! It's waaaaaaaaaay to easy to lose a receipt and/or forget to note a payment, resulting in possibly going overdrawn. Even if you forget to fill in the stub, at least it reminds you that you paid for something.

Dont know how we will pay for allotment rent if we cant pay by cheque, not allowed to pay site manager, cash may be taken to secretary by appointment only, cant pay by card, and get find for late payment. I sent mine in ages ago it hasnt gone through my account yet so I have to remember to keep £19 in my account as I dont know when it will go through.

I use cheques if I need a lot of cash quickly (I won't use an ATM, don't trust them. Oh, and I can't remember the PIN I was given)

I don't use cash all that much these days, only like in cafes. Groceries go on the debit card.

If you pay by card, you have a monthly bank statement listing all your transactions.

I use my debit card for shopping, but still find the odd cheque is needed. Especially for the allotment rent!!

dont know what our association account will do, we pay insurance, NSALG fees, seed order etc., by cheque. The account doesn't have a card of any description so everything is paid by cheque.
