I agree it is a waste of space; but I imagine that they have to sell Christmas stuff in order to fund selling less moneymaking goods throughout the year. Business is business - and all that.
You're right of course Zaz it's done for one simple reason.....to make money! If they have to diversify rather than go down the pan, it does make business sense I suppose!
Supply and demand is the name of the game!
My Majesty made for him a garden anew in order to present to him vegetables and all beautiful flowers.- Offerings of Thutmose III to Amon-Ra (1500 BCE)
I have been popping in and out of my local GC quite a bit this month delivering trees atc - it is an independent owned and operated by a young girl (well, young in comparison to myself) - she has all the usual Christmas tat, but her stock is still primarily given over to proper gardening - her veg, herb and flower seeds are now in and on centre stand display (the full range) and she is due to get a delivery of young native trees (oak, ash, mountain ash, etc at the beginning of January) has fresh comopst and seed trays, propagators etc on offer for early birds - most impressed.

That sounds like my kind of place, it's a shame I'm so far away.

I understand that these places have to make money during the winter but surely they should still stock basic essential items too.
I did email wyevale to complain and they told me there was a display shelf with all the stuff I needed, I emailed back and said had anyone actually checked said shelf because it's empty. They offered me a £5 voucher.

I tend to avoid GC at this time of year, luckily I don't need anything and find it frustrating trying to get past the tinsel but if it helps them keep viable for other times of the year then I can cope, I think!
Some of us live in the past, always talking about back then. Some of us live in the future, always planning what we are going to do. And, then there are those, who neither look behind or ahead, but just enjoy the moment of right now.
