Am I expecting too much? I went to a certain Garden Centre chain yesterday (beginning in Wye, ending in Vale) to purchase some seed tray's, cell inserts and seedling compost for my boxing day onions. After wondering round the bit of the Garden Centre that was still devoted to gardening and not christmas I couldn't find what I wanted so I asked a member of staff. "It's Christmas so I don't think we've got any" came the reply. I think I might have got myself banned from all branches of this garden centre after what I said in reply. Bah Humbug

Go to B&Q Bex. They've got all that you want.sigpic“Gorillas are very intelligent, but they don't have to be as delicate as chimps -- they can just smash open the termite nest,”

Our local Dobbies is more like Santa's grotto. Very few plants apart from Poinsettias and christmas trees, seeds hidden somewhere at the back, a pet shop & books to the middle, caffeteria to right and a flaming delicatessen at the front!

My two nearest Wyevales have rented quite a bit of floor space to the works bookshop and cotton traders, the bigger store also sells tayberry clothing and some leather handbag chain.
Less plant by the month, should be relabeled outdoor experience store.Blogging at..... www.thecynicalgardener.wordpress.com

My nearest Wyevale (I was in there this afternoon) has seed potatoes, onion sets, propagators, wheelbarrows (on spesh!), loads of seeds and some fabbo gifts that I'd love to buy for ME!
Oh yeah, and three acres of glitzy baubles and Tinsel. Some of their Crimbo stuff is lovely, but Jeeez, do I hate Tinsel?! What's wrong with REAL decs?Last edited by Glutton4...; 21-12-2009, 08:56 PM.All the best - Glutton 4 Punishment

What a waste of space!
I reckon they must find the way to survive over the winter when there's not much happening in the gardens...
