As I asked before, can't the people in Algeria that've offered you the job pull any strings? Just a thought.

BTW, did the 'behaviour' involve a Goat?

Sorry G4, I missed that first time round, not sure how.

I have told them what has gone on, they have basically said "ah well, its not unexpected."
They told me they would speak to the embassy and question, see if there is anything else they can provide, paperwork etc and would get back to me yesterday.
Even with repeated shouting at and kicking of my phone, it didnt ring once.

Have you had a look on here, maybe some people have used the same trainers?

Plumbing Courses - Plumbing Forum | Plumbing Advice | Plumbers Forums | A forum for plumbers advice in the UK

There seems to be a view that you'll struggle to find employment with just the C&G 6129, but that's here. Have you had 'promise' of work in France if you can get registered?

I haven't looked there Manda, but will do so right now.
There is a real dearth of plumbers here, and I know that a temp agency can tell me anything but when I was talking to one of them, I heard someone else in the office calling for plumbers for a contract. They all told me there would be ample work, "vous pouvez travailler quotidiennement si vous voulez M Leponge" were the exact words used in 2 of the agencies I spoke to.
Plus, as I just about get by in French and English, there is the expat market that doesnt speak French that I would hope to get work from as well.

How about these guys that I linked to yesterday - they do a 'home study' course that seems to mean only 5 weeks training at their UK base?

Plumbing homestudy course| plumbing home study course - staged payments too & (if needed) 5 yrs to complete (handy if the Algerians changed their mind!)?

They are also listed here, not that maybe that means owt

The weekly block one doesnt cover enough to transfer it as a skill over here, I would still need to do further quals which would cost more, and incur further travel costs.
I actually spoke to them this very morning, and I dont have the option to do 2 or 3 weeks at a time to reduce the travel to and from France, it has to be single weeks, but as I said, it's not in depth enough.
Really appreciate your help though Manda, and always open to suggestions.
                              Well, nice ones anyway.

Did you ask specifically about the 'home study' c&g 6129?

                                http://www.ableskills.co.uk/plumbing_homestudy.htm

It says "...The practical plumbing aspect of this qualification will be available in 5 separate weekly training blocks..." which suggests it can be done in 'week blocks'?

According to their site the C&G 6129 has to be taken before you can do the NVQ 2

Plumbing Qualifications | Plumbing NVQ Courses

So that would mean it'd only be 5 x 1 week visits and then the NVQ work assessment?
