That looks fantastic, i still remember the crocheted poncho my granny did for me when i was 7. Mine was all the colours of the rainbow i loved it, really warm and doubled as a super hero cape, tent, hide away and was snuggly to boot.
Pickle is lucky to have such a kind granny.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

Get some basic patterns and start practising, Bramble. It helps if you have someone to show you how to hold the hook and yarn, but it is really easy and, as TS said, it grows very quickly. Also, since the weight of the fabric you are creating sits in your lap, it doesn't make your arms ache so much as knitting can.

See if you can find the person in your area who crochets those appalling loo roll covers for bring and buy sales (they might not be to your liking, but she will know her crochet) and ask her if she would mind teaching you. You could make a new friend as well.

That outfit looks great Kirsty & it only took your mum a week, it would take me about a year! Clever mum! Pickle looks great in it too.
