I got a photo printer, an antique lecturn from OH (from a church!), gardening vouchers and the usual Carp from MIL, bless her. Did she think I wouldn't notice that the mug said 'Happy Easter'? Or that the tacky plastic pen with my name on was exactly the same as she got me last year?? She did get me gardening vouchers too, which were more than enough on their own!

I was also very lucky, my bestest pressie was my dad being released from hospital on Christmas eve (he had a heart attack last sunday) and being able to spend the day with my family.
Although i also received:
PJ's
Ski helmet
Coco Mademoiselle perfume
choccies
cook books
2 mushroom growing kits
an obelisk
wii game
socks (of course)
money
wine
a barometer
A very good day in all, even though during the meal i got from my MIL "your cooking is getting better, the meal is nicer than last years."

Brill about your Dad though - mine had a fairly serious health scare last year, I think he was a bit fed up with us all (4 sisters!) fussing over him by the end of Christmas holidays

I did cheat this year, because Trousers asked me what I wanted for Christmas, and I asked if I could have Maria & Matthias Thun's Biodynamic Sowing and Planting Calendar for 2010.
He completely 'blew my frock up' by buying me 'The Biodynamic Year' book (Increasing Yield, Quality and Flavour) as well. X. Which gives 100 helpful tips for the gardener or smallholder, and because I'm finding it all a little too complicated for my very Pooh Bear Brain, this book is invaluable reference on a day to day basis!!
In addition to that, he spoilt me further, with The Biodynamic Food & Cookbook (Real nutrition that doesn't cost the earth) by Wendy E. Cook.
Then, before breakfast (you're making your own story up again children?) he'd chilled a bottle of champagne in the fridge with OJ, for Bucks Fizz.
Trousers, I Love You. X.

Had some lovely things but the best were binoculars from OH (so that I can actually identify the birds I see in the garden rather than them all being small brown jobs - eyesight and middle age), a coffee pot for gravy (gravy boats/jugs let the gravy go cold at the table - I have been looking for a sensibly priced teapot/coffee pot for ages, younger son found one (and we used it for Xmas lunch) a garden arch from eldest son and some zebra striped slipper boots (!!) and lots of wine, books and chocs. Lucky me.

Jim asked me not to spend much on him as he had only got me a little, cheap gift. Suited me as I always say we shouldn't bother buying gifts for each other, it's always a headache and, after all these years, there are no surprises!!
So, I bought him a book from the pound shop and he gave me............. a sat. nav. It will transform my (travelling) life but I feel so mean!! I'll get him back next year, if I can think how!

Although it wasn't planned (see my desperate thread in rule the roost!) the best "present" I had this year was Over Wyre Growers offer to rehome Fanny, sorry, Fred.
I'm a very lucky girl in that my two remaining "girls" Faye and Clarissa started to lay eggs yesterday - what a present!
I was lucky enough to get lots of pressies, mainly money, which I asked for BUT, have put it all together and am treating myself and my lovely mum in law, Edna, to a second pampering day at a spa at Formby Hall near Southport. We need to arrange a date, but I'm really grateful and chuffed, and "Little Ed" deserves pampering as well.Last edited by dexterdoglancashire; 28-12-2009, 04:53 PM.Bernie aka DDL
Appreciate the little things in life because one day you will realise they are the big things
