What did you expect to find in a pub on NYE, Nuns?

Actually I dont do pubs for the same reason After years of partying to excess then years of being housebound with little people, we just stay in, cringe at Jules Holland and go to bed at 12.05.

I do miss the snogging though

We've had a fair bit of entertaining to do, so very happy that we'll be having a quiet one! Might see our near neighbours for drinks, and they might end up staying, but they're no trouble.

Bottle of Champagne, nice meal, avoid Jules (I've developed an irrational/rational dislike of him over the last few years, and I now just find him a bit creepy);toast the NY then bed, if no guests.

We were in Western Australia a few years ago at NY, just a few days after the tsunami - quite emotional - lots of people around us had family and friends involved. Pretty sobering that year (although not actually sober, they're still Aussies y'know).

I'm very Bah-Humbug about New Year. It's only the day after the day before innit?! My Mum died on Jan 2nd a few years ago too, although I was Bah-Humbug about it before then. Mebbe it's being a non-drinker...

          Asleep with the phone unplugged?
The best one was spent running from a dodgy pub in London's eastend at 11.50 when I realised that at midnight the drunken men might try to snog me!

We're going in to town with lots of friends (16 of us) for lots of drinks, then back to ours for 11, I've done a mexican buffet, I'm making the biggest pan of chilly you've ever seen, guacamole, salsa, lots of dips and chilled beer, so I need them all to help me eat it all....or the freezers going to burst.
We were going to one of OH work college's, but the taxi alone would have been £40 there and back
I'm so looking forward to it, I love a good knees up.

I'll raise a glass or 3 to you Bob. xx

                  An advanced happy birthday Bob.

I will probably be asleep - until the fireworks waken me, then back to sleep for me.

Off to our neighbour's house. Kids will play and we'll have a few drinks, vat of chilli is slowly shimmering for tomorrow as we speak. Have a good New Year everyone whatever your plans are!

I work on New Year's Eve, always. I hate the charged atmosphere around when you go out, you never know which way people will go---loving folk forever or ready to kill them!!
I used to love the White Heather Club on television when my children were small, does anyone remember that? Now that was worth staying awake for!! Moira Anderson and who were the others?!! Now I find New Year on T.V. boring and not worth watching.
Happy New Year to all, I hope all your dreams come true!

I'm cooking a meal for our lovely neighbours who have actually managed to get a babysitter and my Dad who we've persuaded to come for a sleepover as we don't want him to be on his own for our first NY without my mum and OH of course.

And in case I don't remember.... Happy Birthday Bob x

We always stay home now, when we lived near Mum we used to walk round to hers, but now we've moved, and so's she. I'll prob phone whoever I can get, watch the fireworks from the front door, then to bed. I always feel we should do more, but it was different when we all lived closer. Son No1 went back to uni to celebrate with friends, Son No2 can't afford to go out, and DD stays at home with us (as she should ) We will prob watch a film together, and maybe have an Indian takeaway so I don't need to cook.
I could not live without a garden, it is my place to unwind and recover, to marvel at the power of all growing things, even weeds!

                              I collect discounted Tanqueray.

It goes off when the bottle is opened - something about the ions in the air at New Year so I would rather be wasted than it.
