Gosh, I hadn't heard the news and just came across this thread by chance. How sad. He presented a gardening show on BBC Northern Ireland, as well as GQT, and I saw him at 'Bloom' in Dublin during the summer. He had a wealth of knowledge and on a one to one basis he was so willing to share. He will be missed.
A good beginning is half the work.
Praise the young and they will make progress.Comment

I heard it yesterday but as I don't listen to GQT the name meant nothing to me.
Was a bit baffled as to who he was.
Was he old then, or was it something that came out of the blue?

Aged 66 - sudden heart attack. (Frighteningly young when you're 60 like me!)
He didn't float my boat I have to say. He regularly used to get the word glyphosate wrong till someone must have told him. Still, sad to hear.Whoever plants a garden believes in the future.

Know what you mean about pronouncing things wrong repeatedly. It starts to grate on you after a while.
