Hello Mrs D. I love your Avatar. I think it's a lovely picture of femininity and all that a woman can be. I see nothing risque about it. I see no reason why our male members should not appreciate that image but think it's a shame to make it a but of jokes. But guys do that to bolster their own flagging egos and keep women in their place (as they see it). Leave your Avatar where it is. Be proud. Expect respect.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

Lol Nick, Mr D is saying nothing, but he is grinning from ear to ear!

Thanks for those lovely words Alice!

I often find guys are quite intimidated by me, as I am 5' 13" tall, fairly amazonian in staure (or at least thats how my friends describe me!), am fairly confident and reasonably intelligent, and have worked most of my life in areas that are not normally considered as girly! I often find myself coming face to face with some guy at work who thinks I'm nothing more than a glorified cashier, but then when I 'shoot him down in flames' by not only knowing what he's talking about, but know far more than he ever will, you see their expression change as they reasses their assumptions and a grudging bit of respect then follows! Fun!!

Actually, the comments from the guys on the forum dont bother me, I can take a joke as well as the next person, and I know they dont mean any harm by them! Plus if it keeps them occupied, then at least its taking some flack off of LJ!
        Blessings

Well done Ben, except Mrs D is talking about her height, not her shoe size.

              Sounds a bit intimidating, a 6' 1" Amazonian Matriarch!!!

A 5'13" lady is less daunting though!

Lol Benacre!! Leave my feet out of it!

I always describe myself as 5'13", it sounds smaller than 6'1"!! Plus makes people think a bit! lol!

Anyhows, back on topic, we've just been given our second plot, so I guess we could be described as some of those greedy gits that have more than one plot too now!!! Lol!

Our first plot has the fruit fedge, a decent sized fruit bed, the small shed, the 8' by 10' greenhouse, a wildlife pond, a permanent asparagus bed and 6 other beds of various sizes, but to grow everything we want to, to make ourselves as virtually self sufficient for veg as we can, including potatoes we are going to need more room!

The second plot is not a full plot, but one that an old lady has, and its too big for her, so we are going to take on about 2/3rds of it, and thus help her out! It will also double the room for brassicas, add some more fruit and give us a large enough area fgor spuds, so I dont consider it OTT for our needs! As we will also be sharing a portion of our produce with the lady that had the plot before us, plus sharing excess produce with friends and family then I dont think we are going to be considered as greedy by any that know us!

I do agree that some folks who dont cultivate their plots and wont let them go need to be sorted out, and that those that are using them for financial gain need to be tackled, but those who gain benefit and pleasure, and who manage to keep them tidy are another thing altogether.
                Blessings

Just found out today that people rent as many plots as possible so when the councils close them down they will get more per plot than if they have just one. It does not matter they are not cultivated. they are just thinking of the money

I dont think you quite get the humour Alice otherwise you would take it in the spirit of fun that Mrs D does. There is no need for your insight into my ego, flagging or otherwise, or the presumption that we need to keep women in their place which may be your experience with men, but certainly not mine with women.

That could be arranged but I fear the results would put me in a wheelchair, no gentle airbrushing it is. Pity my flagging ego please!

Lol!! I thought you were joking with the poster idea at first PW, but that reply sounded so genuine I'm not so sure now!

Mind you, if it comes out alright (the poster from the printers you mucky minded lot!), then perhaps we've a business opportunity there PW, imagine how much some of the male grapes would pay for a GYO calendar, featuring some of the female grapes!!
