Now that's a nice apology! I wonder if those two pairs of jeans will last as long as one pair of "old" Levis would though.

On the "what we wear" front - I'm currently living in a pair of Tommy Hilfiger ones. Never in a million years would I have thought of buying them, they were a gift and are great. The denim isn't exactly what I'd call heavy duty but feels a LOT better than most 2 months so far and they are still in really good condition.

As for the generally falling quality - I'm half thinking about just buying a few metres of really good quality denim and asking (nicely of course) my girlfriend to make me some jeans from that. It'll be a fortune less than anything bought in a shop, durable, properly fitting and totally guilt free (since she doesn't work in a sweat shop).
All I'll need to do is figure out which of my jeans to hack up as a pattern.

I think someone may have beaten you to the 'organic jeans' idea though...

Haha - I hadn't even thought of a name beyond "jeans".

I spent a whole afternoon trawling round town trying to find jeans that fit, gave up. My waist, thighs, bum and leg length seem not to correspond! As for leg length petit are too short and regular a tad too long! Now just resort to getting second hand! For some reason I can buy size 12 to 16 and they all fit! Might not last forever but at 2.99 a pop doesnt matter, plus they have that broken in softeness! Tend to go on the knees quicker though but can still last a couple of years! Would like a new pair but just the thought of trying on endless jeans makes me feel queasy!

Donna, It sounds like the best thing (short of companies actually making clothes for REAL people) would be to buy the slightly long ones and take them up at the bottom. That is assuming the slightly too long ones otherwise fit around any other bumps and curves you've dared to have unauthorised by the fashion industry.

I also hate buying jeans, size 14 too small size 16 too big.
My real reason for posting on here is cos I am fed up with an international company phoning me 24 /7 well it seems like they do. Twice today so far while I have been in. Somedays its six or seven times minimum. I dont answer as the phone show's who is calling, I have answered a few times by mistake and told them to stop calling as I am not interested, do they listen, I even asked them how they got my number as we are supposed to have calls filtered. I rush to the phone sometimes thinking its one of the family. GRRRRRRRRRRRR
