The river Trent is lovely, I know because I have walked on it for 18 years.

Yes, but cork bottles only for homebrew.
Screw top wine bottles get utilised as border edging on the lotty.
Small jars get reused for chutney.
Marmite jars, sauce & beer bottles go in the bottle bank

      • Been snowing lightly but steadily all morning here despite forecasts to the contrary, though it is warmer.

Fortunately detected a pipe that had frozen in the shed and forced apart at a compression joint - before it had defrosted enough to leak all over the place. Luckily had some olives and a big adjustable spanner to hand!
Excuse me, could we have an eel? You've got eels down your leg.

        • Here's a couple of pics of our new house. One in August looking all pretty, with its baskets and stuff, and the other after the weekend's snow reached a critical mass and avalanched off the roof onto our cars!!

Lesson learned - don't park in front of the house when its snowy. It took my OH an hour and a half to dig my car out. I took an avarage across the driveway, and it was 10", but the drifts were probably twice that!!

Interestingly, when I first posted the poll it was 2:1 in favour of the snow. As time has gone on that's slipped to nearer 3:2 in favour.
I think, like you, a number of people are losing their love for it. I did too when both a Teppenyaki AND a Chinese meal out were both cancelled! I nearly cried

Still do love the snow though.

Argh, spoke too soon. The snow is gone from the roads, but the pavements and bike lanes are still covered in slush/ice or freezing slushy ice.

                  • I like snow, but only when I don't need to go out in it!
That option wasn't on the poll....
We drove south through France on 18th. As usual the biggest problem was people who didn't know how to cope, this included (especially) officialdom. What with police hauling in lorries and ordering the drivers to park, and show ploughs that only appeared when things were not actually very bad, and then went at a steady 20mph on motorways, in covoy arranged to prevent overtaking, we were VERY late arriving at our overnight stop, in spite of hardly stopping at all on the way (we usually get a leisurely run with several breaks for snacks and coffee, this time stops were purely functional, and it STILL took about a third longer than normal!)
Coming back on Friday wasn't as bad. The drivers who didn't know what to do had mostly stayed home......
