Yeah PB, you're right! But we've got to let 'em flex their muscles occasionally - it keeps 'em happy!

There is probably a genetic factor in how readily one can resist them temptation of enjoyable food, so to that extent, it IS genetic.
Me, I need to lose lots of weight, but I'm setting my target at ½st, until I get that far.
I think that is the reason why they are changing from BMI to Body Fat Index as a better measurement.

      • Just thought I'd announce that I've lost 5lbs over 2 weeks (4lbs week 1 and 1lb this week)

Have just cut portion sizes down really. Even managed some clotted cream caramel and honeycomb ice cream last night!!

Yay!!!Well done.....although sometimes the reccomended 1~2lb a week loss seems like it will take forever,if you consider we're about 25 weeks away from Summer(I think, although my maths ain't grand)that'll mount up to loads by then!

I was going to suggest to people who's problem is snacking...in the morning make yourself up a little snack bowl.Once it's gone you're allowed no more.I find that far easier than trying to deal with the little voice telling me "one more won't make a difference"
the fates lead him who will;him who won't they drag.

              • One week today since I started Atkins and I've lost 6lb - can't cope with metric for body weight, though I happily use both for cooking. Funny innit?

I'd like to join in with the 'what I ate today' thread. Is it here yet? Had a lousy night and darling OH has let me sleep in until half an hour ago, so not at my best.

Keep up the good work, everyone.

Well done A&D, keep up the good work.

Sorry, that should be addressed to OWG. Told you I wasn't awake!

                      • I think it might be easier if they'd stop telling us what's good for us and what's not.

My target is 1lb a week, but the first week I think was a fluke!!!

                          • Right - here goes!

                            Today, I have had;
06:45 - 1 white coffee with 1 level tsp sugar when I got up (earlier than usual due to early Farrier visit!)
Then I went and mucked out and fed/watered the nags, then back home to feed Chooks, let out geese etc.
09:45 - Two home made beefburgers with small slice cheese on top (these were left-over from last night's dinner), I had them cold, and they were yummy.
11:00 - I small glass milk (trying to cut out the coffee but didn't fancy water)
13:15 - Two bowls home made French Onion Soup (no croutons)
Spent most of the morning at the Poota doing stuff for my Sister, so no physical exercise there.
Dinner will be Steak & Kidney Casserole, which is currently cooking in the slow-cooker, I'll probably finish off last night's calabrese, carrots and cabbage too, Mr. G will doubtless have mash or chips, coz he doesn't have a weight problem (g*t). Before dinner will be my six-weekly trip to the Chiropractor - YAY! I always feel a foot taller when I've been, though the mirror lies to me, I'm sure of it!

Three cheers for flukes, OWG! You do lose a fair amount of water initially, but it gives you the incentive to keep going, doesn't it?
My target is 1 - 2lb a week, which should not be too difficult to attain. It's when I hit a plateau and it goes on for weeks that I usually come unstuck.

Oh, right, thanks Andrea. For some reason I thought we were moving to another thread.

                                Okay, yesterday.

Breakfast: egg, bacon, two small tomatoes

Lunch: salmon mayonnaise, four small tomatoes, iceberg lettuce

Dinner: pork chop, stir fry of onions, peppers, mushrooms, garlic and chillies, and broccoli lightly steamed.

Snacks: two handfuls of pistachio nuts (with shells) Er, didn't eat the shells!!!

Drinks: copius amounts of Earl Grey tea with soya milk, and whisky before bed.

                                Today so far.

                                No brekkie - still asleep!

Lunch: Tuna mayonnaise, four small tomatoes.

Will get back to this after the snooker and when I have something else to eat.

Oh, I forgot: two hard-boiled pullet's eggs as snacks.
