  • I weigh most mornings while still unclad. I only really 'take notice' of the week's trend. Weight may go up and down a bit, but if it stays down for a few days, it's gone down. If it goes up one day and down the next, it's unchanged (and if it stays up for 3 days in a row, I need to do something about it).

    • I don't really trust my scales as I have found that depending on where I place them I get a different reading, on the carpet weighs heavier than the tiles for example and even different parts of the same floor read different. And they weren't cheap ones either!
So I don't weigh on mine now just go to class instead.

      • Your scales should be on a firm flat surface eg Tile, to get the most accurate readings.

... but I was REALLY hungry after gardening for 2 hours, and I'm having veggie stir-fry for dinner (v.healthy)

            • I'm losing weight without dieting just do not have an appetite and when i do sit down to eat don't want it!! Good for the waistline but not so good for my health. Off to Wales next week, lots of walking to work up an appetite and get back on track again.
When weeding, the best way to make sure you are removing a weed and not a valuable plant is to pull on it. If it comes out of the ground easily, it is a valuable plant. ~Author Unknown

              • Does anyone use a graph to record their weight on over a month?

Good idea to show what it's like.

I used an online one last year. It's good to keep a visual record, so you can see your progress.

                  • Hi all, back again! I've been staying with DD helping with the new twins, but we were so busy I've managed to lose a few pounds (7 in total since we started). There wasn't time to nibble between meals and they eat sensible portions.
Well done all you losers! Your commitment is inspiring, reading through I want to get right back to it seriously.
OH doesn't help, he snacks in the evenings and serves up huge carb portions when it's his turn to cook. I've started knitting again so that keeps my hands busy and I can't snack! Been walking every day with my mum when I'm home and using the Wii fit, and I'm hoping I'll be able to get back in the gym (posh name for our converted garage!) now my balance is improving, I should be ok to use the treadmill, but the cross trainer still makes me nauseous (as does hoovering, so I don't do it!).
Keep up the good work everyone, I need the inspiration!

That's half a stone, well done you
Sensible portions + no snacking (+ some exercise) = weight loss. Simples

                        Thank TS

The theory is so easy! How come the practice can seem so difficult?

I realise now I need a lot of encouragement and OH just wants me to join him in his over indulgence (so he doesn't feel so guilty about it I guess), so I have to be extra strong, just keep telling myself that this is about me and ignore his problems if he doesn't want to join in!

Never thought I'd take that as a compliment!

I think I've lost a few ponds, as everything is looser but went out for a meal with the In-laws last night and had a right old blow-out, so got to get back on track this week.

Friends are coming round for a Roast this evening, and it's going to be difficult, as willpower is not my strong point. But they are not big drinkers, so that will help.

It's funny, I know I've only lost a few pounds, but already I have more energy and feel more 'elastic' which for me is excellent news as I'm probably the least supple person on the planet!

                          Keep up the good work!

                          • Lost another pound!
Not going to get weight down to sensible levels for 2 weeks away, but I will keep going all year, maybe by Autumn I'll see real progress......

                            • Have just made a huge batch of lovely seeded wholemeal and rye rolls - AND I put them into the freezer as soon as they were cold!!! Am I good, or am I good?
