Hotel help in a hurry.

Hi all who are reading this.
My daughter will be celebrating her 40Th birthday on this coming Sat. 9Th.
her dad and me have booked a trip to Amsterdam for herself and her OH for the end of March. Unfortunately we haven't been able to secure a hotel for several reasons mostly because some plans have fallen through.
If anyone can recommend a 4 or even a 5* hotel within walking distance from Dam Sq. I would be very grateful

My younger sister has been to Amsterdam a couple of times, so I'll drop her a line and ask if she knows of anywhere. Can't guarantee speed of response though cos she is on board ship at present.

Bramble, I would give the thumbs up to the Barbizon Palace. We stayed there a while back, It's 5 star and in a fab location.

I'm afraid the one we stayed in that was lovely doesn't seem to be on either expedia or trip advisor. The other one we stayed in I wouldn't recommend.

The trip is not until the end of March, but I wanted to present her with all the details on Sat. as it is her 40th., but if I have to wait for a little longer, so be it.

I lived in The Netherlands for a couple of years but was in The Hague rather than Amsterdam so haven't stayed in any hotels there. However the company I work for has a list of recommended 4* and 5* hotels for it's staff to use. These have usually been checked by our travel folk so should be pretty reliable. Here's the list for the city centre:
Crowne Plaza Amsterdam City Centre
Swissotel
Renaissance Amsterdam Hotel
IBIS Amsterdam Centre
Golden tulip Amsterdam Centre
The Convent Hotel Amsterdam Mgallery Collect
Moevenpick Amsterdam City Centre
