Biggest shock for me was finding out that rice grew like wheat - I don't know where I thought it came from, but images of Chinese women working in paddy fields hunched on their hunkers always made me think it grew on roots like potatoes - just goes to show that no matter how old you get, there's always something to learn!'May your cattle never wander and your crops never fail'

I missed it!
Around here we see a lot of outdoor pig farms, and since our only supermarket is Waitrose the 'standard' pork and bacon is at least outdoor bred, while the slightly more expensive stuff is outdoor reared as well (I think they do sell Danish bacon, but not very much of it).
Lots of people think that an adult boar is aggressive. Of the 4 we have kept, none were at all aggressive, but perhaps that is because they were allowed to interact with the sows, not just 'do the business' with a backside sticking out of a crate (one stage better than just getting the ladies worked up and then being deprived of the action)!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.

Its soooo frustrating.
What annoys me about this program is that there is no mention of how people have to change their ways to create a more sustainable future with enough food for everyone. Its all about how farming has to change. There is little or no mention of the un-sustainability of current farming methods. And what really got me cross was the introduction of every episode where Jimmy states that food can not be grown in towns and cities. What utter nonsense!

All ignoring the real problems
1) waste How much perfectly useable food is thrown away DAILY?
2) use of food-production land for other crops or luxury fodstuffs (like those sandalwood nuts in Australia)
3) the really difficult one, POPULATION LEVELS!Flowers come in too many colours to see the world in black-and-white.
