Everything has already been said, more eloquently than I could put it as well, but I send you strength for the times ahead.

I wouldn't worry too much about Iona missing a bit of school, unless she is desperate to go (I know my DD, nearly 9, wasn't happy to miss it last week because of the snow, she loves going!), she is young enough for it not to matter too much. Take care and good luck with whatever you decide.

Thank you all for your kind words -my wife decided that we should come home on Saturday and said her goodbyes to Paddy (her dad) on Friday night - we then had a horrendous 9/10hr journey back home getting home at 1o'clock on Sunday morning. We got ourselves unpacked and sorted out on Sunday then at 10.45pm we got a call to say Paddy had passed away. So we packed again and Monday I drove Maggie and Iona to Glasgow Airport to catch a flight to Belfast, dropped Niamh off at my mums then drove back up to Tain - just made it through as the A9 is now closed at Drumochter Summit - it was blizzard conditions as I was driving through that section. Got home at midnight - at work today as we are now seriously short of funds, but had to come home just now for an hour or so for a new printer to be installed for Maggie's printing business.
Anyway, thanks again all, and special mention to Beefy - very kind offer mate, not needed but thanks for the offer.

Nothing much that can be said at a time like this SR, but condolences to you and your family.

So sorry to hear all you and our family have gone through, its the stuff of nightmares.
What with the distance, the ad weather and the time of year things couldn't have been worse for you.
I hope when all this is over you and your family can settle into the new year.
My condolences to you and of course your wife.
Life can be damn hard at times.

And when your back stops aching,
And your hands begin to harden.
You will find yourself a partner,
In the glory of the garden.

I was just checking to see if there was an update, I didn't know what/how to say anything when I first saw the thread. Our thoughts are with you and your family at this time.

That's my problem too, and I can't even think which words are least useless!

What a nightmare for you all. Nothing much I can add to what others have said - but you know we're thinking of you all.
