Poor Little Goose.

There's been a canada Goose just stood in the same spot on the school playing field since the middle of this morning.Every now and then it goes round in circles looking like it's lost...can they getlost?
It doesn't look like it's got a broken wing or anything but should I call the RSPCA or is it normal behaviour for them?I feel really sad for it.

There's no harm in informing them- then they can make the decision as what to do about it.

Maybe try putting some food out nearby for it. If you haven't got anything suitable some brown or seeded bread moistened with a little water might do.

I threw a little bread over the fence(hope the teachers didn't see)but the seagulls got therefirst...I'll throw a little more over and then if it's still there at pick up time let the teachers know.

Wouldn't think it was normal behaviour. I would contact the RSPCA.

I once saw a gull trapped by some fishing line suspended from the cliffs at Saundersfoot. Other holiday makers had already contacted RSPCA but they could not reach it in order to rescue it. Eventually a local guy had to shoot it to stop its suffering.

I would definitely inform the RSPCA. Chances are they will arrive and said goose will fly off (dont think they get lost) but it may be suffering somehow in a way that you cant see.

It could be very tired after long flight and not a lot of food.

Hubby and I went for walk down the beach one day and came across a young Flamingo doing something similar. It just stood resting in the surf and I was very worried about it (although I did manage to snap it a few times during my state of worry).

It was difficult, especially as we watched it's flock circling, sort of waiting and then disappearing into the horizons but I just had to leave it as no one to turn to and we couldn't help it directly (not very hot on animal / bird protection in Spain I'm afraid).

Went back the next day and it had gone so nature took it's course, whatever happened. I like to think that it got enough energy to get to the others but I suspect, much like chickens, once they start showing signs of illness or major fatigue the end is close. :-/

Well I didn't call the RSPCA.I chatted to my neighbour who's a bit of a bird nut and he said it's quite common for them to sit out in the cold.mustering enough energy to get going again.
Not sure if it was the sight of all the Mums or whether oit was ready to go anyway,but got home and it's not there anymore,so hopefully it's found it's pals and is swanning off home.

It was back shortly after and I think is now asleep at the other end of the field.(it's really foggy so hard to tell)
I tried the RSPCA but they were only taking emergency calls.I'm guessing it somehow got separated from the rest of it's flock,but as they have their set daily path,hopefully it'll be reunited.(they actually flew over at about 9:30 the other night...so maybe it's sat there waiting?)
