  • Fitting punishment?

I am sitting here trying to think of something REALLY REALLY evil to do to my youngest son
He washed up this morning, with much protest and hissy fittying. Muppet child threw out the stock I had made yesterday and washed up the pan! So now gotta make soup from stock cubes
I wouldn't mind but I dug through a foot and a bit of snow to get the parsnips.

So any ideas on what to do with him?

PS I don't THINK he is smart/mean enough to have done it on purpose...............but I wouldn't be surprised

Send him outside to dig up more parsnips.

Make him eat soup with no stock AND no stock cubes. He'll apreciate it next time!

Sounds like quite an proactive, thorough and efficient lad.

Shame about the stock though init. Hmm. I have no idea what punishment to levy. No computer games for x <hours><days><weeks> ?!
Excuse me, could we have an eel? You've got eels down your leg.

Fitting punishment as I'm erring to the positive side(he didn't do it on purpose) is to dig up more parsnips
Never test the depth of the water with both feet

The only reason people get lost in thought is because it's unfamiliar territory....

Firstly, thank him for doing the washing up.

Then warn him that next time he does that, he'll have to drink the washing up water for his dinner.

Ok I still have the parsnips, was going to make parsnip soup with the stock, so that idea is out.

There's been many a time when I've been preparing a Sunday roast or Xmas dinner- to find that some helpful sole has thrown away the gravy water...even when I'd poured it into a measuring jug!

Give him a hug for helping you in the kitchen- just ask him to check with you in the future before anything goes in the bin or down the sink- or in the dog's bowl!!!

Ah, 17 is a bit old for the norty step. Also a bit old for hissy fitting when asked to wash up. From your original post I was expecting him to be around 12 or 13. Will ponder on suitable punishments.

That is exactly my comments. He cannot be punished for making a mistake just hope he learns from it.

FionaH - his punishment should be to make some more stock from scratch - then he'll know the work involved, how to do it himself next time and possibly appreciate the results!
Whooops - now what are the dogs getting up to?
