    Hi Gn.

Late to this thread as well, what a harrowing time for you all.

I'd support what Kirsty said, and what Flum said.

Apart from that hon, stay strong and blessings are being sent in your direction.

Bedside manners seem to be somewhat lacking I'd say

The Consultant will have discussed your father with other peeps either on a ward round or at a meeting with other members of the medical team.Have you managed to have a chat with the nurse who was in at the latest meeting? Sometimes they are the best source of explanation and information.

You then might be better prepared for the meeting with the Consultant which you should indeed push for.

Kirsty is right, thats the best way to progress.
Sounds like the F1 was a bit tactless regarding DNR, no excuses but it does need to be established, in the event with no status it could be a cruel act.
Don't be sad that you're Dad is cheerfully unaware, what good would it do at this stage to burden him with all this information, and how much of it would he retain?
Sadly you and your sister are having to deal with this but you are the people that know your Dad best and have his best interests at heart, no agenda.

Very late to this, but read the thread through, what a horrid time for you (understatement) - I welled up, your Dad is lucky to have such a wonderful daughter.

Can't really add anything useful (through the haze of tears!), but hugs and strengthening thoughts your way.

            Little bit of news,
I rang the hospital and I'm going in this afternoon at 3.30 to see a more senior Dr about what was said yesterday, I told them that we were less than happy about the outcome of yesterdays meeting with a JUNIOR Dr, as we were led to believe we were seeing the consultant, the ward sister told me that he would be doing his rounds between 3.30 and 5, so I'm going to make it in my way to see him, I'll have to write things down or I'll forget whats said to me, there's so much going round my head at the moment I feel it's going to burst, I'll let you all know how I went on and what has been said, hopefully I'll get answers to questions that are still as yet unanswered.

Thank You all AGAIN for your support, well wishes and really good advice, I've gained so much strength from reading your messages, also a big THANK YOU for all the P.Ms, you know who you all are, Big XXXXXXX to all.

I've just got back from the hospital and I managed to see the consultant, he agreed with me that Dad was doing fine without the opp, he's on tablets to reduce the swelling on his brain and the bleed isn't causing him any distress, his bruiser's are going and he looks much better, we had a really good hour together, the consultant was talking to Dad and he said that Dad understood more than the Jr Dr gave him credit for, I think that's because he's getting his tablets on time and not missing them like he does when he's on his own at home, I told him I wasn't happy with his team and that I understand that my Dad isn't the only patient there looking after, he wasn't at all impressed at the attitude of the Jr Dr yesterday, he also said under the circumstances the final decision about Dad having surgery would be down to the neurologist team and the anaesthetist, but the wishes of the next of kin would be taken into consideration.
I took Dad a home boiled ham sandwich and a bag of crisps (his fav) he wolfed them down, so there's still no problem with his appetite, and now he has a favorite nurse she comes and sits with him and reads his magazines, they call her Jane, He's a cad.

Sounds like you had a much better day today and well done for getting to see the consultant and voicing you disappointment at you previous treatment. I bet you feel much more positive now and sounds like your Dad is doing well. I bet they love him on the ward ,he sounds like a right character.

It sounds like you've had a much better day today , definitely more positive especially managing to voice your concerns with the consultant. Your dad sounds a right charmer with the nurses . Hope you and you're H and sister are feeling happier about the situation.
