  • Feeling sorry for meself

Woke up this morning with pounding head and zigzag vision. Migraine I gather.
Texted boss to say I wouldnt be in as I couldnt string a sentence together that made any sense. Went back to sleep. Woke up noonish feeling like my brain had been through the fast spin cycle on the washing machine.

Now up and head is feeling better if still a bit mushy.

At least the pyrotechnics have stopped now.

Ps. If none of this makes nay sense I apologise, as the world looks strangely lopsided at the moment.

Eek, I'm glad I don't get migraines - sound horrible. Does lying in a darkened room help?

The nausea is a dog too.
When it's all over I get cravings for sweet stuff.

The darkened room does help somewhat.
While I was sleeping in bed the blinds were shut and I had the quilt pulled over my head.
Now I am up and about, I have the blinds closed at the front window, but the back ones are open.
Havent tried herbal tea. I imagine that camomile would be helpful. Will go have a root in the herb tea box and see what I have.

Right ho. These are the herb teas I have:
            Peppermint x 3
            Orange, Mango & Cinnamon x 2
            Lemon & Ginger x 3
            Pink Grapefruit, Mandarin & Lime x 3
            Lemon Burst x 2

Which do you reckon would be best to take?

I would say the peppermint. Anything citrussy may set it off again.

I get migraines - not often, usually triggered by low pressure.

I take Migraleve - you can get it from most Chemists and very effective. Get the mixed pink and blue pack so you can take a lower dose if you prefer. Always sorts mine out.

Have you tried feverfew? My niece occasionally gets migraines and she refuses to use conventional medicines, herbal/homeopathic are her main preference. She says the feverfew is fantastic.
Unless you are liable to get adverse reaction to citrus, I would go for the one with ginger in, but since migraine is not one of my problems, I probably don't have a clue what I am talking about there!

I used to get them, they were stress related. Not had one for, blimey, over three years now. I never took anything for them as I didn't get them often enough to remember to buy anything. The only cure was to go and lie down in a darkened room. Sometimes a cool eye mask works.

Later, in the evening, I'd run a bath and light a candle, then just lay in the bath with the light off and just the gentle glow of the candle. Very soothing.

The following day I would be fine, but a little disorientated, as if I was in a bubble and everyone else was outside it. Weird.

Hope you perk up soon, they can be very draining.

I too am a migraine sufferer - usually at the end of a stressful period - so I rather expect to get one next week once Richard is home. Generally they last only a few hours - though I have had one or two that lasted several days.

Anything light, fruity, non-citrus and preferably with a mild smell - so peppermint would look the best option from the selection you have.

                      Alternative is a homemade brew

One whole clove, about an inch of cinamon stick and a touch of honey, brew for about 2 mins with hot water. Works well for various ills, including migraine.

                      Get well soon
The weeks and the years are fine. It's the days I can't cope with!

I get migraines too Usually happens when my sleep has been disrupted for a few days, but also triggered by red wine - even a few sips! I use those Kool Strips (they stick across your forehead) and go to bed with an airline-give-away eye mask on.
Usually feel 'fuzzy' the day after, but it's always worse if I've had to give in and take strong painkillers.

Just don't try cycling 5 miles with a full light show migraine - I did. I 'lost' two days.

That said I must have looked pretty ropey cause this was back in the dim distant past of university and I remember being sent out of the lecture - applied maths - might have been a ballistics lecture? Still can't calculate a bullets trajectory!

My migraines used to be a wee bit connected to work-stress I think, but generally my only trigger is low-air pressure. I can predict rain two days away!

Hope you're starting to feel better.

Thanks for all the advice everyone. I took today off as well as I still have that fuzzy disoriented feeling and didnt think I could cope with icy pavements feeling like this.
Still have the living room blinds 3/4 closed to keep most of the light out. Sleep last night was sporadic to say the least. Last time I looked at the clock was 3.30am.
Just feeling nauseous now. So hopefully will be ok tomorrow.
