I agree with all of the above. Who else would have helped me out with floppy onions?? Also, thanks to The Vine, I'm off Willow coppicing on Friday & meeting up with another grape or two. I've learnt so much and know that no matter how daft my problem is, I just have to ask and someone knows the answer or someone else has the same prob so I can just look up the solution. Thanks so much!

On the debit side there is a slight tendancy on this forum to read the initial question, then post a reply, ignoring the previous five similar replies already there.

                  But it happens elsewhere also.

I suspect it might be down to the measurement of posting levels.
Always thank people who have helped you immediately, as they may not be around to thank later.

I've found myslef replying to a question, then posting my reply and although when I started there were no answers, when my reply appears its the 3rd or 4th on the thread Peter, so I dont think its all about measuring posts! Plus, the more replies someone gets, then the more confident they may be in taking the advice!

I think the best part of the forum is the fun you can have whilst learning. I personally like the little snippets that are between posts and these change it from being a "sterile" encyclopedia to a fun, interactive resource for gardeners of all standards. Some of the best ideas come out of posts that are perhaps a little askew from the theme but relevant nether the less.

I agree PW, it is good to know that I can express those 'sideways' thoughts I have now and again. But, ok, so now you know I'm a 'lardy' too! I shouldn't have tried to have a giggle if I didn't want you all to know.

Seriously though, I am learning so much, only problem is whether my brain can hang on to it! Thanks guys.

Hello Peter, I don't think any replies are down to the measurement of posting levels. I don't think anybody is the least concerned about that. Mrs D is right. Grapes can set out to post a reply and find when it's posted a few other grapes have also replied. And as she says, if several people come up with the same answer then it just gives more confidence in it. I don't see it as a debit side at all.

From each according to his ability, to each according to his needs.

I didn't want to ask (fed up with looking stoopid, I thought I'd leave that to the newbies! ), but what is 'measurement of posting levels'?

I'm not really sure but I guess it's about going from germinator to seedling etc by the number of posts you make.
Apparently some people join forums and post things like 'I agree' or Yes, right' according to No 1 Techie son. Waste of internet space and very frustrating for the Mods I understand. As far as I am aware no one does that here, but maybe we should cut the funny responses sometimes!??
